What Size is the Front Hub Nut on a 2000 mustang V6?
well im currently trying to replace the front hub Assembly on my mustang but i need the socket size first can n e 1 help???

I beleive it is between a 22 and 23 mm nut. I think it is made out of sheet metal, flexible, so use the smallest size you can fit over it without having to pound it on.

I believe its a 36mm socket thats fits it, these things are torqued down to like 250 ft lbs and then add the rust, you're gonna need a long breaker bar or an impact wrench to get it off. Good Luck.
PS try to find a six point socket to fit it. |
Tuff is probably right, 22mm seems too small. I was going to look it up, but I was feeling lazy.

Just replaced both front hubs on my 02, easy as can be, If i could do 15 of those a day and get paid to do it i would. I can't recall what size the nut was but just in case you didn't know i do recall that ford refers to that lock nut as a 1 time use part. I managed to get 1 of them off in 1 piece but, on the other one, the steel cage broke and i had to take each of the plates inside off 1 by 1, so what im trying to say is be sure you have a replacement nut. The pair i got from the parts store were a different style than the set that came off the car, they had a collar on the top of the nut that after you torque it down to like 258 ft. lbs. you dent the collar with a hammer and a punch so it doesn't back itself off.
EDIT: Also the nut that i got from the parts store was a different size, a bit bigger, so make sure you've got a socket to fit it as well. |
