clutch noises

Not sure if this is a throw out bearing issue or not, but just noticed this morning when I got to work there was a weird almost like cricket chirping noise when I pressed the clutch all the way in. Only makes the sound when I press the clutch all the way to the floor. Doesn't do it when I hit the engage point, just at the floor. Any ideas what this could be?

I know a throwout bearing does that when the clutch is all the way out it makes a chirping noise, really high pitched and annoying, but if you rest your foot on the pedal it stops chirping.

You're case is opposite. Still seems like its making a similar sound.

Yeah it's making the chirping sound, but not until the clutch is all the way to the floor.

TOB. Common issue. When's your next clutch job scheduled? I have a 10.5" full kevlar and aluminum clutch setup you really want. Add a new centerforce TOB and a new pilot bearing and you're golden. My flywheel has a brand new spare friction surface.

BTW... russ, I'm parting out the beast. Come over and upgrade a few things. Wheels are waiting for you. 450 with the tires with a set of something (anything) to set the car on in trade. Sell your wheels to a v6 car, take their v6 wheel/tire package over to my house, and put them on my car, put my wheels and tires on your car. Yay!

I like the sound of the wheel trade. I'll post up on craigslist and cafords and see what i can come away with. I wasn't planning on a clutch job anytime soon, but who knows.

Is the TOB something I need to worry about right away or can I get away with it for awhile? Like I said, it doesn't make any noises while driving or anything. I would prefer not to have to replace the clutch and all that now since the headers will have to come off too. That's a pain I'm really not interested in dealing with at the moment. But I may just have to make a trip over to good 'ol springtown.

It'll be fine for now... just take the car out of gear and let the clutch out when you would otherwise be holding it in and you won't make any more wear/tear than needed on the bearing. I left mine like that for a while before I replaced it.

Alright cool. I did a little research and it looks like the headers I have can be left in while removing the transmission. That will make things easier.

get it in to your local garage pal

Ya my tob been chirping for a while now when clutch is out but nothing to worry about but gonna replace the clutch next year anyway.

I finally was able to hear it with the clutch out, but barely noticeable. Good thing the Vortech masks the sound so it's not annoying. I'll eventually get it done. Since I have the WRX, I'm not too worried about it.

Yep, definitely sounds like the TOB to me.
