with a fuel injection system, 87 to be exact. Does the flow of fuel thru the injectors operate as a steady electrical current that is times through the computer or does the computer adjust current flow to the injectors? According the manual, one side of the injector is hot all the time and tied together (red wire) and the other wire goes directly to the computer independently. what kind of current flow should be at the injectors at an idle? I want to make sure I'm getting proper signal from the computer before I replace a full set of injectors. The intake was off of the car and in the trunk when I got. I wonder if being exposed to the elements didn't ruin the injectors.

I believe I'm correct here, you have a common positive to each injector and the negative is applied by the ECM. The "on time" of the injector is determined by the ECM. Its pulse width modulation. On time Off time

I dont think you have a whole set of injectors bad, I would look into a ground problem. Good Luck.

injectors are fired... sorta like a gun. They're normally closed/off. When the ECU fires them it applies voltage for a specific period of time. The voltage should be constant since the pulsewidth is the thing that determines the total volume of fuel that escapes through it.

The injectors are likely crudded up. Hose them out with carb cleaner. Make sure the can does not have 1-1-1-trichloroethane written in the ingredients list as that can melt many plastics.
