70mm or 75mm TB?

I'm running a n/a '04 GT that i do not plan on supercharging. Should I go with the 70mm TB or will i see any difference in gain moving up to 75mm on n/a? Also need recommends on which you guys feel is the best TB.

I have K&N FIPK, C&L Plenum and very soon the SLP cat-back (just ordered from MT).

:D

I just ordered a 75mm.TB and plenum combo from Accufab. They are quite a bit more expensive than other combinations but are polished from the factory. This will help out in car shows only,no advantage at the track.About S/C 'ing, never say never.

Get the 75mm. It will work better with the C&L plenum. Should be worth 1 or 2 more hp(like youd really notice) but C&L suggests a 75mm tb. Good luck.

To 70mm or 75mm, that is the question.

If you are not planning on supercharging your 'Stang, or changing heads or cams, the 75mm TB is WAY overkill. You'll never get to take appropriate advantage of the increased flow the 75 allows. Get the 70mm TB, and currently Accufab is generally considered to be making a superior product.

definitly accufab intake and a 75mm t/b. the accufab performs better and looks 10 times better.

best combo u can buy for a n/a 4.6 motor is the accufab polished 75mm tb and their polished intake plenum.. showed the most gain of power throughout the power band..and like it has been said looks bad ass as well.. i don't know were u get this overkill stuff...

Overkill

Well, as my wife will tell you, I CAN be wrong. I'm basing my comments from a conversation I had with a guy waiting in the staging lanes at my local drag strip this year. He was confident that he bought too much throttle body when he put on a 75mm Accufab on his basically stock 4.6. It kinda made sense to me, that with the restrictions in the valve train and all, that it was too much TB. But, obviously, the research doesn't bear out his experience. 75mm it is! :headbang:

I can attest that 75mm is too large for a moderately built 4.6. My motor is a little more than "moderately" built and the 75mm Ford Racing TB on my horse is still a little too big for normal driving around. Works fine under WOT though.

MOST say to use the 70mm TB if you stay NA. WHY? I never got a answer that really makes sense. SO Does anyone know "WHY" its best to use a 70mm TB if you are N/A??? :happy7:

70 mm t-bodies work better than 75 mm on mildly modded GT's. Your low and midrange power will be better and the car will idle more smoothly. I am waiting untill I see some of these 4.6 intakes before I buy a plenum and t-body. Hopefully we will see them soon I am getting tired of waiting.

Merry Christmas every body!!! :occasion1

So...basically, you need more power, or mods for the bigger TB. So for a mustang with X pipe, 3.73, catback, pullies, T/A, and plenum the 70 should be large enough? Will the 75 cause a loss in power or not getting the optimal power??

svtnos 12-24-2004 08:19 AM

well hell if u feel that way come over and i'll have my bro take u for a ride in his 01 GT motor equiped 98 GT with the plenum and 75tb.. it did nothign but make the car faster by alot but then again it doesa have LT prochamber and cat back...this a real world provin... so this is were i got my opinions on this ..lol

mike sweeney 12-24-2004 08:58 AM

Nobody is saying you will loose power with the 75mm set-up, but you might gain more with a 70mm.

Hey mike, you have any pics of your car? I think ours are going to look alot alike except mine is silver.
