Rear axle re-build

So, my pinion seal has been leaking a bit and I replaced a seal. Since I replaced the seal I messed up my crush collar and pulled my pinion out of its set spot. Now my new seal is leaking and I will need a new crush sleeve to fix the problem.

The dilemma, my car has 100k miles almost (94k) and my stock differential is worn out a bit. The dude said he will rebuild my differential reset my gears and wont have to worry about it. That will cost me about 700 bucks for all parts and labor.

I was like whoa...I told him I'd rather just get a new FRPP T-lok, 31 splines, gears reset and my axle tubes welded. All of that work will keep me from going back in the pumpkin for good.

FRPP T-LOK is good differential for the money...I dont know which axles to run strange, moser, yukon.

I just dont want to pay!

I'm running the Moser 31 spline in my rear. No problems. Strange is also top notch. Yukon is going to be the cheapest in price and quality.

I think Im just going to go with moser axles. Dont know what kind of deal my local dealership can get on the Diff but Im going to check on monday...American Muscle lists theirs for 319...lets see what my parts guy can do for me. 2003-2004 Cobra Diff with carbon clutches is what im looking at.

once I acquire the parts rear axle is coming out...transmission is coming out and converter is being outsourced to either precision industries, performance automatic, or lentech. Lentech is in Canada so shipping will probably cost too much.

Then once its all back together it will be time to do A-arm busings, tie rods bot inner and outer.

damn, i should just start a project thread!

Check out BuyFordRacing also. They have good prices on FRPP but on a lot of things you have to pay for shipping.

okay,

Im having the rear end completly rebuilt and done. I called a shop that a guy from my shop uses (muscle car guy) and I was quoted 1180 for all parts labor and tax.

The build consists of FRPP 3.73 gears, FRPP T-Lok w/ carbon clutches 31 spline, 31 spline moser axles, 3" studs, new bearings and seals.

Im only getting new gears because mine are probably fucked.

I priced out parts with a 10% discount on AM and I'm only spending about 100 bucks more.

That extra 100 gets me a warranty on my rear end parts. I love mom and pop race shops!
