SCT SF3 question

Ok so I finally hooked the tuner up to my focus and I was under the impression that you had to download a custom tune from somebody to get power from the specific car.

Has my understanding been wrong all along does it just come ready to go with tunes for lots of vehicles.

I was looking throught the strategy tuning options to see what I could change and I didn't want to change anything cause I had not idea what I was doing. Anywhy the tuner loads what I thought was an unchanged tune onto the car and I'll be damned if it's not a bit quicker.

Ya, i thought that too, but it's really for when you add new parts, like a cold air intake or exhaust or something. If you got the custom tunes anyway. You can adjust everything yourself, like fule/air ratio, when your car shifts, how hard it shifts, the spark plugs, and some other stuff. I just messed with mine for figure it out, they need better directions for it!!
Go to program vehicle, then to custom tune, and you'll see your car on there, and then select adjust options, that's where everything's at for you to adjust yourself.
* Ours is the SCT SF3 w/ free cutstom tunes that we got from AM for our 03 mach 1

The SF3 is pre loaded with basic canned tunes for pretty much all Fords 96+. However if you want a better tune then you would need a dyno tune or even a custom tune would most likely add a little bit of power of the canned tuned.
