carb engine in a 1984 mustang questions

This mustang is a 1984 mustang lx it came with a v6 in it and it had that carb on it that was a fuel injected looking carb ( you guys know it looks like a 2 barrel carb with two fuel injection nozzles mounted in it ). Can I hook up all the existing wiring and use a carberator on this or will I have to wire in a duraspark type brain box. I realize the plugs are different on a duraspark distributor and the one that was in the v6, but I can cut the plug off and put the duraspark plug on it. Will the stock computer work?

sounds like a throttle body injected engine. It is NOT a carburetor, it's a fuel injection hat in the rough shape of a carb. No, you cannot hook up the wires on a carb and have it work since they're totally different technologies. Carbs use mechanical linkages, TBI hats have only a general appearance in common with a carb and require wires to send signals that activate those big injectors on top.

If you want to put a standard carb on it, get a carb manifold and a carb, all the linkages and the delete all the electronic engine and trans control components, replace the fuel pump with one appropriate for a carb and spend all the bucks to fix all the problems.

I'd advise against adapting an injected setup to a carb setup. It's easier to go the other way.
