sct tuner
alright so now i am looking at purchasing a hand held tuner but wanted to know if it is even worth the money right now on my basicly stock car? i know you can tune it for 93 octane to get a few more horses and cut out the speed limiter and rev limiter but what else can i do to give my baby some more power? lol

I would wait till you have more mods then get a tuner. I also would recommend getting a tuner/tune from an actual tuner and not a reseller like AM.com is. I love AM.com and all but they are not a tuning company.

what he's saying is that you can buy the tuner, but you get the actual tune from a company that only does tunes, like vmp tuning. however at your level, a generic "canned" tune from american muscle is probably good enough.
the tuner/tune is a great mod, and i think necessary while you're building ur car. u need it to adjust the speedometer for when you get gears.

You ask me the product you use to tune does not matter at all. Its who does the tunes that matters. So find a local guy who is a good tuner and run whatever products he uses. Cause if he only uses Diablo and you get SCT your screwed.

WHat he said!
Also, Red GT, It appears you are local to me. There is an excellent tuner in Memphis and they mainly use SCT. The thing to do would be to mod your car with all the basic bolt ons and so forth. When you get to the point where your about done with the bolt ons go ahead and get a tuner. It would suck to get a tuner now do a couple more mods 6 months down the road and then need a new tune to make the best of those mods.
Anyway, if you ARE local to me and live right outside of Memphis, check out http://www.dynospeedracing.com/ and check out this local board too. http://www.svtoa-memphis.com/

I had the Diablo tuner. I liked the features and big view screen. What I didn't like was that it wouldn't remove my factory speed limiter. I called the tech line numerous times and did everything they said, but no luck. The guy said that there are certain compatibility problems with thier programmer and certain vehicle computers. I sold it to a friend and bought a SCT II unit. This solved my problem. By the way, the Diablo worked for my friend's car- guess I just have bad luck!
