I had a 66 coupe in high school many years ago (1977)
2,000 is not alot to work with. Mine was a 3 speed manual also. I swapped in a 4 speed manual. I would build up the rear end before doing much power wise..
Save your money for a crate motor and get the suspension and drive train built first. I blew up a bunch of rear end's on mine. They were not built for alot of power so get the basics done first.

LOL, old guy. Congrats on the new car. Im in agreement about building it from the ground up though. Do the suspension, fix anything than needs to be fixed so that its cherry first.
