Brake Woes

Been having some brake issues for quite some time now. As far as I can tell, my front P side caliper is not wanting to release all of the way. I removed the caliper, loosened the bleeder screw, and tried compressing the caliper. Needless to say it was very difficult to compress, but I did get it. I greased the sides of the pads with brake grease to let them slide easily along the carrier, reinstalled the brake, bled the lines (p and d side), added fluid... still no luck.

Is there anything else anyone recommends doing short of replacing the caliper? Also anything else that could possibly be my problem other than the caliper?

Did this just start w/ the cold weather? I know the parking brakes like to stick on my car (last winter it was the driver side caliper, no, after replacing it, it's the passenger side) so in your case, it may just be the cold weather making everything tight and hard to move.

you may need to pop the pistons out of the caliper and clean the walls of the cylinder. If you have a bunch of grime buildup on the walls it'll make it very hard to compress and can lead to heat buildup and eventual caliper failure. Most people replace calipers that just need some minor maintenance.

+++1 I had to rebuild my front ones as they were sticking even after I relubed everything up etc.. New pistons and seals and its good to go now.
