What's the trans-cooler needed for?? Are you going to endurance race your Mustang or what?

Any auto car should have a tranny cooler especially if you drive hard or live in hot climates or both. Heat kills auto tranny's as the fluid breaks down over 205*. If you want an auto to last long you need to add a tranny cooler.

The cooler I always recommend is the B&M kit which is a full kit with all the fittings you need and is a good large size cooler. Also its very easy to install this kit.

It goes where it can get a steady flow of cool air. So you should mount it in front of the a/c condenser. Also most kits come with nylon push threw fittings so you can mount it right on the a/c condenser or you can mount it to the radiator support bracket with some drilling etc.. You can really put it where ever you want as long as it gets good air flow over it.

And Like I said if you drive an auto you should have a tranny cooler. Since they cost a whopping $60 and you can install it in your driveway in an hour; there is no reason not to have one.

My 99 F150 which has the same 4r70w would run in the 200 to even 218* which is very bad. Added a cooler and valve body mod along with a deep pan and it never went over 170's even in 100+* heat and that was with a high stall converter that makes even more heat in the tranny.

i got the 24 GVK joint up on my ride...since i have a 3.5" intercooler in front of the A/C condenser i had to mount mine just below the driver side headlight. Still keeps the temps in check.

Trans coolers are great. I recently got a dual circut (12K gvw + 12K gvw) cooler for my power steering fluid. I can run the steering fluid through it twice or use it to cool two different fluids. Neato in my book.
