New Plugs?
Alright gettin ready to buy some new spark plugs and was wondering whats hot and what not?
Any suggestions? |
The search function is handy but to sum it up, stick w/ cheap old Copper plugs. Platinums are a waste of money unless you really hate changing plugs and any of the exotic plugs (like E3 or Bosch) are no better than your $2 Copper plug. Good brands are Autolite/Motorcraft, Champion, Denso, and NGK. Also, if you drive your car like an average driver, stick w/ the stock heat range but if you romp on it, go one step colder.

now, as suggested if you "hammer it" use a Motorcraft SP-505 which is 1 heat range down from stock and of a copper core, try a gap of .048 to .052 |

yes it is and thats pretty much all thats aval now is full thread plugs and it's not an issues |

I love NGK's its all I use in my car on the bottle. I rock NGK TR6 plugs which are one heat rang colder and copper so they rock for nitrous,superchargers etc... For a n/a cars like yours you would want NGK TR55 |
Would going one step colder for a n/a car be bad. Randy stated that if you "hammer it", go a step colder. I would think that I hammer it petty good since I do atleast one autoX event a month. But I just went out and bought a set of thoes SP-505s so that kinda makes up my mind, just wondering.

Going one step colder isn't bad. Remember, it's always better to go colder since the worst that could happen is the plugs foul. Bad things start to happen though if you go too hot.

Ok, good to know. Thanks. Changing the plugs is the plan for the day. Hopefully I will be done before time to go tailgate.
