Battery Relocation

Have many people done this? Does it make any real difference in handling in an autoslalom? What kits have people used?

ya i head it helps alot planting the rear end of your car
i Know American Muscle Has a Nice Kit

helps the handling? im not to familiar to the battery relocation, but doesnt only the battery weigh about 7 lbs?

i mean what else gets relocated than just the battery and the wires.

yeah, a battery is heavy. and moving it to the rear right supposedly helps with weight distribution.

spike_africa 10-20-2008 07:21 PM

I wouldn't move it for better handling. Its moved to get a good chunk of weight off the front of the car and onto the back passenger side of the car to help it get better traction off the line. Most batteries are in the 40-50 lbs rang.

bassman97 10-20-2008 08:35 PM

But as a virtue, that would affect the handling also since you are balancing the front and rear weights of the car, and even evening out the side-to-side weight distribution.

modularmustang 10-21-2008 07:08 PM

i never realized how much moving just a battery can help the cars handling

M_Stang 10-21-2008 07:25 PM

Ya the Batery weighs 35lbs and puting it in the Trunk on the passenger side
it ends up putting 60lbs on the rear tires because it is behind the Rear End and with the use of leverage

M_Stang 10-21-2008 07:28 PM

Oh and it gets rid of some nasty Push in the cornering

modularmustang 10-23-2008 05:42 PM

really...ill have to do that when i get my s197. i serioiusly didnt realize how much of a change that actually makes

engineman312 10-23-2008 05:46 PM

Arn't the battery on the 05+ cars right infront of the firewall and behind the front tires? If so, then relocating the battery wouldn't make as big of a difference, but still a difference. It's just that on the SN95s the battery is way out there in front.

bassman97 10-23-2008 06:19 PM

Not only that, located on the worst side, the driver side. I believe S197's have it on the passenger side, which helps even more.

It still makes quite a bit of difference because your still taking alot of weight out of the front and plants it in the rear!
although you are right its not going to be as big of a difference in comparison to other models
