Just found out previous owner screwed with the wiring...
 

Hey, I've had a few electrical problems with my car so I decided to take a look around.

1st, I have a parasitic battery drain. I traced it to the fuse of my General Electronics Module. The drain isn't that bad, but after 1 week of not driving, my battery will be dead.

2nd, I've noticed this happen maybe 3-4 times. When putting on my left turn signal my windshield wipers will go up and down once. Also, the last time it rained, when my wipers were on the 4th intermittent setting, they seemed to go off randomly (7 seconds between wipes, then 1 second between wipes...etc)

I think I may have found the problem with the wipers, but I'm not sure. The plug that the wires go through from the engine to the interior was not in the hole. My theory is that water/humidity is entering causing a short or something. That is an easy fix.

When inspecting my car, I found a box with something like an antenna attached. It looks after market because some wires from it are just cut off, and electrical tape is present on others. A few wires from this thing are wrapped around others (no solder present). It has a sticker that says "Tested by AT date: 11/25/2003". Another sticker is an FCC message that says something like "This can be used as long as it meets 2 criteria: 1.) This cannot cause interference 2.) Signals that this receive can cause unwanted effects." Something like that...

Any idea what this box is? I'm thinking like a radio/ or something. It has a number on it 21400637345, but google doesn't pull it up.

You should have seen all the stuff that I found hidden in my v6 mustang. I new the guy worked for an electronics company and had put a wireless cell phone system in it. not long before I sold it, had it for over three years, something started beeping and buzzing. I found some speaker stuffed up under the dash and traced all the wires back to all kinds of boxes and stuff. Just removed it all and everything was fine.

That seems like a good guess. I looked up online there are those "radar alarm" things. It senses if someone is in the car. Maybe the antenna-like-thing does that. I'm going to remeasure the current draw tomorrow, take this out, then measure it again. Hopefully this is causing my parasitic battery drain.

This makes me dislike the previous owner more and more. He/she also added H&R super sports without adjusting anything else, and cut (looks like by hand) 2 holes in the v6 bumper for dual exhaust.

ya just kidding, but I love my car's color. 99 chrome yellow beats any other yellow. I hate the "piss" yellow of other years, but chrome yellow is darker. The car was a pretty good deal too even after finding some problems with it.

i think yellow belogs on z06's, vipers, and Ferrari's.

that seems to be some sort of GPS locator modules.. I run across them all the time in the line of work i do, and the only think i can think of is some small car lots will put them on as an added insurance in case the payee does not pay. The two coax type wires are GPS wires, one is the GPS and another is Terristrial.

Just guessing, but it could be... Something similar to what ^^ this guy posted, but some small used car dealerships actually use a system that can 1. track the car and 2. kill the battery if the person doesn't pay their car payment.

It's a pretty interesting setup, basically they give you a touchpad when you buy the car, after your payment is made they give you a code to type into the pad and it delivers the signal to the receiver and tells the unit not to drain the battery. If you don't key the new code in it somehow drains the battery and even if you replace the battery it cuts off the ignition.

Not sure if that's what this is, but I'd say it could be a good chance, especially with your slight battery drain problem.

Rip all that shit out and reconnect everything properly, hopefully it will solve your problem. :cool:
