Is amsoil a good oil to buy?

So i was talking to my dad the other day and we were talking about oil and he mentioned that amsoil was what he used back in the day. And that you only have to do an oil change every 25,000 miles anyone know if this is a good product?

I personally prefer Redline (had a better experience w/ their 2-stroke oil) and as far oil changing intervals, as long as the oil is still good (no sludge, can still dissolve particles, still protect and lubricate, etc.), then you can make the intervals longer. I myself like to stick w/ 5,000 miles since there's has to be reason why Ford recommends this.

lark, know bassman knows what he is talking about. we should check out Redline sometime!

It is good oil that's for sure, but a lot of these high end oils are just to much money and something more basic that you can get anywhere like Mobil 1 is still a damn good oil and much cheaper. I change mine every 7k miles when I don't spray and 5k miles when I do spray the motor alot. As some extra fuel could get past the rings when you use a lot of nitrous.

But Amsoil,Royal purple,Redline, Mobil 1, and others i forgot are all good oils. And don't fall for the 3k oil changes that some people would love to still believe oils today are far more advanced then the old oils that needed to be changed more often.

I have used Mobile 1 and Royal Purple. I must not realize any differences in oil... car doenst go very fast anyway to begin with.

i use mobile 1 right now and im liking it so far cant really tell a difference in power though.

You won't notice a bump is power by switching fluids (unless you are a top fueler in the 1/4 mile). However, for what it's worth, I myself run Mobil 1 due to availability and price. However, one can't beat Redline for extreme conditions.

Mobil 1 all day long

My dad used to be an Amsoil provider back years ago as a side business. We set up a dual oil filtration system on his 1500 Ram and we change it every 10-15,000 miles.

If I'm not Mistaken I think it is still the preferred oil of Mopar (may be wrong.)

I will only use Amsoil, Mobil1, or occasionaly Redline. Royal purple never seemed like a very good oil to run for 5,000+ miles to me.. Seems like more of a performance oil meant to be changed more often.

Whenever I use Amsoil or Mobil I change my oil about every 6-8,000 miles..
