Tranny Cooler
 

I have a 2000 GT I put 4:10's in and would like to install a tranny cooler. I would like to here from someone who has installed one and how difficult it is? Also is there a place to find good install directions.

Auto or Manual? If auto, just but a tranny cooler kit of whatever size, and plumb it in after the stock transmission cooler, really simple. If you've go a manual, you don't realy need a trans cooler and I don't know how to hook it up. But installing the trans cooler on an auto is really simple. You just unscrew the lines from the radiator to the transmission and route it through the new trans cooler, mount the cooler. You mount it after the stock cooler becuase it would just heat up the fluid again in the radiator. But route it after the stock cooler and the fluid can go through both.

Its very to install and they come with directions that will explain it even more so. But the low down is that you mount it in front of the radiator ( it comes with brackets) or you can use push pins and mount it to the a/c condenser (alos works well). After that its just two lines that have to be run. Take out the tranny fluid return like from the radiator and run one line from that hard metal line to the cooler. Run the other line out of the cooler back to the radiator using the fittings they give you with the kit and your done. Its very easy and straight forward job if you are mechanical at all you can do it.

I would recommend this kit from B&M racing. I have used it and recommend it to all my friends.

I run the same kit that spike africa posted as well for over 2 years now.

Its a good setup and has everything you need. For an example of how well it works my 99 f150 ran very hot 210-220* sometimes with my high stall converter and even with a shift kit. I added this cooler and a deep tranny pan and my fluid never again went over 185* again even in 100+ degree heat here in central Florida. Keep in mind anything over 210* is very bad even 200* isn't good as its cooking the fluid.

i have the same one and no issues keeps my interior a bit cooler too.
