Cheap Upgrades?

Hey I have a 2007 Shelby GT and I want to get some more horsepower and torque out of it but don't want to spend too much money. What are some upgrades that do a lot but don't cost too much. I spend less than 1,000 here. I work at McDonalds and don't really have that big of a paycheck. (Not my car, my dad bought it for me to drive)

you should first see if your dads going to let you mod it. i would go with gears if i were you.

These three mods will really wake up your car. Install of the gears will be around $350 so all together it will put you at like $1100. The 05+ GT's respond very well to an induction and mail order tune. A guy I know dropped .5 in the 1/4 from just the JLT and Xcal 3. Add the 4.10's and you're looking at .7 - .8. Throw some drag radials on the rear and your car is 1 second quicker, all for only $1500.

Some of the stuff like the intake arlready came with the car so unless its a lot better then the one I have now Im not sure I would want to spend money on that. And the gears were changed from stock to 3.55 too.

07 shelby gt??? well thats better than startin off with a six banger lings most of us, but if i were u i'd get exhaust (slp loudmouth) and to hell with cats. then gears and a programmer like sct or diablo.. if u really want a bang for ur buck go with nitrous but that could lead to 'detonation' if ur not careful.. but good luck man..

blownstang 07-15-2008 09:55 PM

I'm assuming you're an auto since you said stock to 3.55. Autos came with 3.31's. Whoever decided to go to 3.55 just threw his money in the trash because you will not feel a difference. You need to go 4.10.

Steeda97 07-16-2008 03:27 PM

Pretty sure 3.55 gears are a factory option when buying GT's, whether automatic or manual.

4.10 gears, drag radials, dyno tune.

You are a lucky dude. A Shelby GT just to drive? And you work at McDonalds?! IF i noticed that someone who worked at McDonalds had a Shelby GT, i'd go in for an application. haha.

Steeda97 07-16-2008 03:28 PM

By the way, post up some pictures buddy!

Haha yeah you should see how many people walk in and find out its the kid working behind the counters car. Its so funny how suprised they are especially when I joke around and say i bought it working here. And I'll get some pics up.

and will changing the gears to 4.10 hurt the gas mileage a lot?

GTRACER88 07-24-2008 11:44 AM

Well

Since you have a low budget, and u have a supercharger, you will really love this site. http://www.stiegemeier.com/ Port your supercharger, and you will see gains that are far better than anyother mods that you can put for under $1000.

GTRACER88 07-24-2008 11:48 AM

I also knew a kid here in houston who worked at mc donalds and his dad bought him a GT500.

Lazerred6 07-24-2008 11:50 AM

He has a shelby GT not a GT500 no Scharger

GTRACER88 07-24-2008 03:21 PM

You are absolutly correct, i understood GT 500. No wonder that no one recomended smaller pullies. LOL, then yes gears are the best way to go.

That is a badass car. lol.

4:10s... everyone says they fuck yer gas mileage up real bad. If you dont drive like an asshat on the highway yer fine.

I have 4:10's, a diablow tune, upgraded intake and exhaust and i get about 20mpg with a mix of cit and highway.

the 99-04 GT's were only rated around 16/18mpg i believe.

hahah rated at 16, but you get 12-14 in the city.

King 07-24-2008 11:04 PM

I've got an '04 Mach 1 pulling 13 in the city, so I'd believe that.
