Gas pedal connection to the throttle cable
 

Guys,

I'm installing my Bullit pedals (yes I know they're a bitch). I got the 13 mm bolts holding the actual pedal to the floorpan, however, how exactly do I detach the pedal from the throttle cable? I cant see far enough to know if there is a nut on the cable I have to disconnect or what to do exactly to physically separate the pedal from the cable. I saw on the how to video at americanmuscle that the guy just pulled the pdeal free from the cable, but on my car the throttle cable runs through a hole on the gas pedal and there is a nut/bead type of thing on the end of the cable. I didnt want to yank on the pedal and damage or stretch my throttle cable.

Sorry for the Mr. Potatohead question, but if somebody can break this down for me retard style, I'd really appreciate it.

just curious, are the ones that just bolt onto the face of the pedals like the steeda ones?

i put those one with some c-clamps. Clamped down the bottom part then put another viceclamp on the top and started wheeling it down untill the pedal fit. Then drilled the holes and put in the bolts.

No, not like Steeda. On the Bullit ones, the clutch and brake slip on the actual pedals (once the stock linings are taken off). However, you have to physically remove the gas pedal and take out the retaining pin to detach the stock pedal and replace it with the Bullit. Im trying to detach my gas pedal and thats why I asked about the issue with the throttle cable.

There is a plastic gromet that the cable runs through on the top of the gas pedal. What you need to do it just pry it out, with a screwdriver or by hand whatever works. Then slide that on the cable a little and there will be a slot to slide the cable through on the top of the gas lever/pedal. And since you have the bold already out it should be completely free to remove. If anything confuses you just ask me to help clarify. It is hard to get down there and see everything so it's difficult to understand where everything is running and what holds what to what.

God! The damn brake pedal is a mean son of a gun to get on. There are guys that can easily pull a motor and tranny from a car faster than it took me to get these damn pedals installed. At least getting the gas pedal off was a snap with your directions 01FR500.

BTW, I had to slice the corners of the brake pedal, there was just no way I was going to get it on otherwise. Well at least the pedals look and feel good, so the final result is good to go.

For my brake/clutch pedal, I boiled some water and dipped the pedal in there for about a minute to soften up the rubber. Went on pretty easy after that. Wish you would have let us know you were having a problem with it, coulda saved you some frustration and a headache.
