That's good but unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me, which is sad. Some people are just, well...

It cracks me up how many people think that if a stock car calls for 87 octane and you put 91 octane in the tank you'll get a performance increase.

I will say though, that I did notice a slight increase in mpg while running premium on the stock motor, but the increase was probably offset by the increased price. Also, when I tore the motor down to do my head/cam swap, I did not find any excess buildup or anything out of the ordinary. So, will it hurt anything, not likely. Is it worth it? Probably not. Scott

darn skippy! I use 91 because that's the highest you can get in most places in Iowa... A lot of stations have 89 is the highest. I've got reason to get the higher octane though

In the May issue of Modified Mustangs Joe Dasilva says he's seen 05's, especially GTs detonate under load on 87 octane. So my next tank will be 91 octane. In the summer my Yamaha R1 will ping even on 91, so I have to be careful not to short shift it. No engine is ever going to be harmed by using too high an octane fuel. But if you don't need it you shouldn't waste the money.
