Oil pressure gauge at engine start
My 2000 GT 4.6L has no oil pressure at engine start according to the oil pressure gauge, however the engine sounds normal at start, and the gauge kicks in after a minute. Oil level is normal and I recently changed the oil. This is only happening in cold weather. Any suggestions???? I'm thinking the gauge is sticking. When I rev up the motor the gauge goes to normal, and after the engine warms up it remains normal.

its prob the cold weather making the gauge stick

1999 up cars and trucks have had problems wth the oil pressure sender, replace wth a newer version, part # 6U5Z-9278-D which wholesales for @$9.00

order a new oil pressure sending unit from Randy. They're moron simple to install ... takes <5 minutes. Also replace your oil filter. It's possible that the anti-drainback valve in the filter has failed. If you use FRAM filters then it's extra likely as their drainback valves are normally made out of cardboard and their filters suck ass anyway.
What weight oil are you using? |
I thought we already got this taken car of for you by putting you in touch with Randy. https://mustangboards.com/parts-desk...ine-start.html

Those damn gauges are just ON/OFF switchs. No pressure to them.

Listen to Randy. I had the same problem you descibed and a new sender unit fixed it. If you really had no pressure, you would know it.
