Tuning Question

if i would bring my car to a shop and have it tuned on the dyno.... if i disconnect the battery i lose the whole tune and would have to bring it back to the shop and have them tune it again? trying to decide if a handheld tuner would be better or the dyno better.

well on your hand held your dyno tune should be saved.. and a dyno will always be better, unless you are some type of a guru that knows how to tune on your computer at home. then they are about the same...

but a dyno should be put on your hand held..

You will not lose your tune by disconnecting your battery. Its just like your computer if you unplug it you don't loose your memory.

Not to hijack the thread but since you question was answered, I've got another question along the same lines as this...

My car is still under warranty and I've had to take it to the shop a twice for warranty work (once was just a seatbelt issue). Anyways I've got the diablo handheld and I'm using their tune. So my stock tune is saved to the diablo. Would ford at this point be able to flash the computer back to the factory tune while they were working on it?

Each time I've taken it to the dealer for work I just remove the tune. No big deal to avoid any issues that ford would have with it. I wouldn't ever leave the tune on the car if I needed work done but nobody has ever been able to answer this question.

Merry Christmas BTW!

they can but they won't unless you force them to or piss them off. you can tell them to leave the ECU alone... it IS IN FACT YOUR CAR.
