clutch

Hey, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to adjust my clutch pedal? First off the clutch doesnt grab until i let the pedal out at least halfway so I would like to fix that(the clutch is practically new, spec stage 1 with maybe 7000 miles on it). And it is also so long, I would like to shorten it up. My brother has the same year mustang and his is prob half as long as mine.

have you taken your foot put it under the clutch pedal and pulled back on it? This is one way to adjust your clutch.

no, how do you do it im not really sure what you mean

that seems like it would make it longer not shorter

the clutches in the mustangs before 05 (no idea about 05-current) you would take the top of your foot and place it behind the back of your clutch pedal then pull with your leg against the back of the clutch pedal. This is an adjustment that you can do with your pedal and clutch.

thanks for the info, but how does this adjust the clutch to tighter and shorter? It seems like it would stretch out the cable making it longer and more lose

its part of a factory adjustment that is built into the clutch/pedal assembly. It will bring it back to the factory setting or atleast its supposed to.

Yes it tightens the clutch cable up. Its for when the stock clutch gets worn you can adjust it so you still have nice pedal engagement. The owners manual says put the car in 1st gear with motor off, pull up on clutch pedal and then press slowly to the floor, then back up. You do this as many times as you would like to get a good setup for you.
