well when i put them on the first time they were way off, so I had to adjust them with the cluster lens off, while plugged in and the car on so I could get them set correctly according to my diagram that I had drawn up of the needle positions with the car on. i doubt they are 100% accurate, but they should be pretty close.

It's easier than you think. Put a full tank in it, make sure the battery is charged well, and the engine is cold as hell. Apply current so that the posts won't turn backwards and the needles (except for the speedo and rpm) are fairly easy to place.
Next use the procedure to display the diags on the trip meter and with the car running you can place the RPM needle correctly. 1 Needle width won't matter there. for the speedo... that's a little harder but I used a set of needle nose pliers to hold the center post advanced from where it rested about 20deg clockwise. Then it was off by about 3mph which didn't matter to me.

Here's what I used to reset my gauges after pulling the needles off.

i just went through this... I fixed my gauges, but last night the dials were sticking to my new glow gauge and I know I pulled them up enough to clear it, so maybe they arent on tight enough or I need to retighten them.. but its a pain in the ass messing with those dials

Using the HEC diagnostic you can display what your gauges should be reading. Start the car up, cycle through the readings, set the gauges, and thats it. DUH!
