SLP Loudmouth Install - easy enough for n00bz?

First off, keep in mind i'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to anything involving getting my hands dirty ;-) For instance, an "easy to install in 30 minutes" CAI took me like 3 hours ;P

:sign5:

Finally getting my SLP Loudmouth Catback in tomorrow, problem is, I don't get paid untill Friday, and won't have time to get them installed in a shop untill next Monday at the earliest.

AFAIK I have the needed tools to install it myself (some jackstands, saw, wrench set, etc.) but am hesitant to sawing off parts of my car. However, I am also very impatient and waiting untill next Monday might drive me clinically insane! :crybaby2:

So, is it an easy enough install that I should go for it? Or risk mental illness and wait? Also, does anyone know where I can look at some instructions (with pictures, preferably) should I choose to do the install myself?

Thanks!

Its real simple, youll be kicking yourself when you see how easy it is. Get a buddy and do both sides at the same time and it will take you half as long.

get a sawzall. You will be soooo glad to have it.

StangMan04 06-06-2005 06:53 AM

Yeah, you can do it yourself if you want, I did it all by myself, my arms were killing me after the sawzaw, but I managed to do the entire install myself.

as long as you arent a bonehead, you will find it easy. I dropped mine at a guy's house one night and the following morning was gonna go to his place to help with the install. I wake up at 10 oclock and he has already called me bc it was installed and ready. You only have 2 choices with the install though...remove the suspension(in order to remove the factory exhaust in one piece) or cut off the exhaust completely....its the only way. But trust me, when you feel/hear the new exhaust, you'll be throwing the factory one in the trash(though I woudlnt recommend it) :glasses3: make sure you have some sort of lift, even if its just jacks(thats what my friend used to put mine on)

Got it installed just fine!

And I got to say, SLP LOUDMOUTH ROCKS!
I freaking love the sound. I also plan on putting on the catted x-pipe in a few weeks, should be a nice setup :blob6:

Lucky bastard...I got the catted X-pipe but not the SLP Catback yet...can't wait. :headbang:
Did you end up doing it yourself or paying for an install? If so how much did it run you?

Be sure to get a GOOD metal cutting blade for the sawzall. I went through 5 cheap metal blades cutting off my stock exhaust. That factory stuff is hard

My wife gave me a combo cordless power tool set and reciprocating saw it had cut the stock pipes like butter, just make sure you use a blade for metal usually one with small teeth.

SLP LoudMouth

The SLP LOUDMOUTH kicks @$$!! I have had mine about 9 months now and i still mind my self oftenly turning down the radio just to listen to my exhaust, especially slamming the throttle 1st to 3rd. first and second gears sound awesome and LOUD!

Next step is the X - pipes.

Im a noob when it comes to installing exhaust, i did mine in my garage with a hacksaw/jacks and a flashlight. took about 5 hours but i got it done. Arm was killing me!

WARNING: A catted x pipe won't pass smog either. You'll fail the visual test. Only the stock H pipe will pass. Keep your H pipe so you can swap it back on when smog time comes. After you get it smogged, put the x back on.

I have a Bassani catted X. I went with a cats only because I didn't like the sound of the off road pipes.
