17x9 front 18x10 REAR!!??
A friend of mine(who i now think is handicapped) instead of doing 315/35-17 in the rear he wants to put a 275/40-18...wouldnt that look crappy with a 18in rim in the back?

i think it would be personal preferance...its been done before.
275 i dont think would be bad, i have 275s on 10.5" (you can tell its a little small though) |
i thought he was joking when he said it. I wouldnt do it though, plus 18" tires cost a good bit more...oh well its his baby not mine lol

315s are generally run on 10.5 width wheels.
these are 275/35/18s on some 18x10s. 275/40s would prolly be alittle better. i cut a 1.8 60' on these tires... used off ebay. a 285 would work well, just alittle rubbing on a fox, fine on anything newer. nitto's run small. Attachment 24287 Attachment 24288 |
i like the look on the mismatched rim sizes...a lot of vettes have a 18 up front 19 in the back setup
|
295's on a 18x10. no smaller or it can look weird. although Clemson's dont look strange at all..maybe the Potenza's run a bit wide.
|
yeah i know tires sizes and what to put on rims...but he wants to run a 17" rim up front and a 18" in the back. i have never seen that on a mustang have any of you guys?

That setup looks great! Just be sure to get 305's or 315's on the back. Using 275's on a 10.5 rim is too narrow for me.
A 275 tire should be technically 10.6 inches wide (the Sumis are just 10.2") but I know they vary a bit. |

I considered that look on my car but the tire cost strayed me away from the idea. Tell your friend to go for it:boink:
