shouldn't be a hard thing to do, it sounds to me that he's been hearing it for a while. shouldn't be hard to point it out to a mechanic. IMO it's the dealership avoiding a warranty issue. since the cost is coming out of pocket they don't wanna deal w/it. just my 2cents.

I lemon-lawed a car once.
The guy across the street from me has a Honda with a similar problem. Been in the shop 10 times and has only a few thousand miles on it. They have replaced every suspension part and even flown in mechanics to look at it. Now there are saying it is "normal". |
lmao waterdr. mattj, why do the dealerships try to avoid the warranty work if they get re-imbursed by ford anyways?
|
i know what you guys are saying but the sound and feel is so obvious that anyone in the car knows its there, but im going to take your advise and take a ride with the guy when i bring it back in... point it out and see what the deal is... is it possible that it can be something in the trans making all that noise???
|
can ya describe the noise a lil better? maybe even see if it'll pick up on a sound clip or sumthin'?
|
it sounds like im drviving on blown shocks even on a smooth road im getting a rattle. also when i put it in first and i start letting off the clutch, just as it starts to grab and the car eases forward i hear it, that y i asked if it could be the trans but i tried it on a downhill and it is just the movement of the car, maybe the weight shifting, because i hear it just the same on a free rolling start... the noise is hard to explain... picture your car on a nasty road filled with pot holes... the banging you get when you hit a deep hole... thats what it seems like on a freshly paved road... slightly exaggerated but you get the idea
|
damn...i haven't got a clue. ya kno u seem like an alright guy, just for that i'll trade ya cars, mine doesn't make that noise. lol

Because its a pain in the ass for them to try and find the problem. While the mechanic is busy lookin for the problem, the dealership is losing money because hes not producing any work. Warranty work is a PITA to work on because you usually have to order the parts anyways so you basically worked for free to find the problem, only to have to order the parts and you wont get paid till its done.

The dealers also have to show some prudence too, or Ford will not pay. I bought a used Saab 9-3 last summer as a certified used car from Saab. The warranty service form them is the BEST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I took it in for an oil change, and told them that the seat belt did not work right, the door handles were a little faded (someone used a buffer wrong), and the radio volume switch acts goofy when it is 20 below out. They sent me away with a 2007 loaner (w/o me asking) and I picked-up the car two days later. They replaced the radio panel (eventhough they could not duplicate the problem), fixed the belt, replaced ALL four door handles, and found a cracked coil spring....so they replaced both of them. BTW, I bought the car from another dealer in a different state. I would buy another. |

Dealers get paid directly by Ford to do warranty work and they pay a lot of bills this way. BUT, Ford pays a reduced labor rate and they generally HATE long, drawn-out diagnostic issues. I am not sure if Ford pays for all the diagnostic stuff.
