Car Keeps Cutting Out

My 94 Mustang Gt Keeps Cutting Out i Had it looked at by 3 different mechanics Noone can figure it out. These are the symptoms
When im driving the Rpms drop to 0 then buck back up to normal real fast
and sometimes when im driving the car will just completely shut off and i wont even know it did till i step on the gas...
its been pissing me off for months.. i had a stereo system installed and someone said that the wires behind it can be grounding out..
and my car has been lacking ALOT of power when i step on the gas it lags...
No Machine can pick the problem up cause the problem has to be happening while they put it on the machine... Any Ideas????

Most important is when did you notice it and what was the last thing done to stang. Try this if you want to rule out the stereo. What was added amps, head unit? If amps where added then disconect the amps and see if problem goes away. Easiest way to do it is to look at battery, there should be a cable plugged on the positive side that is not factory, disconnect it. Also how much power does the amps have you could be overloading the alternator. Get a volt meter and see how many volts your car has with engine on. Make sure ground strap for engine is on tight. How many miles do you have? Have you done a tune up, chaged fuel filter. Could be a bad fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, kinked fuel line, hook up a fuel pressure gauge see what you get. (TPS or IAC dirty or bad , but I would say that a code scanner should of picked something up http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/s...ighlight=clean .)

Mac Shorty Headers
Flowmaster Exaust System
And a Msd Coil

The Speaker i had In the trunk Blew
then i disconected the amp so basicly theres wires connectin behind the Radio Unit for no reason
its funny ever since i put on the headers i been gettin the cutting out problem

The Fuel pressure is good that was checked
computers wont pick it up cause the problem happens once in a blue moon out of no it just cuts out and it will always start right back up its crazy

Should i try this? http://www.muscularmustangs.com/iac.php

Check all those lose wires and wrap them up so there is no chance that they can touch metal or touch another exposed wire.

Can This Be a Problem

I Just Remembered Ever Since I Had New Spark Plugs Put In And My Headers
Theres Been a Problem. My Friend Put The Plugs In And i dont think he Set The Gaps Can That Cause It To Cut Out And Bog Out Starting In First Gear When I First Start The Car And Drive??

venom 05-21-2005 04:26 PM

You always check the gap.

ProShifterGT 05-21-2005 04:34 PM

yeah well i guess my friend didnt know that
the gap not being set can that cause it to cut off or buck
And can the fuel filter cause it to cut off and buck?

Do You Think Maybe The Computer itself is messed up
this problem is driving me crazy

check all your vaccuum lines, check your injectors. i know i forgot to put a hose on when i was cleaning my crown vic and it freakin drove like ****, and it was just one damn hose. check your mass airflow sensor too. i hear something that oil that you use on you airfilter can like mess it up or something.

ProShifterGT 05-24-2005 12:59 PM

It Turned out to be a Bad Fuel Pump Module
Hopefully thats the only problem should i get my fuel injectors cleaned or should i just put in fuel injector cleaner fluid
And i gotta get a new fuel filter
