Well, this is my first mustang, and I love it. Acquired it around 66k miles, and I have no idea how good/bad the previous owner treated her.

My question is, what should be "going" around 70k miles? I ask because I want to keep the life of this car going, and I'm sure I'm approaching the max life of some components under the hood.

I just replaced the serpentine belt, as well as the breaks and rotors. What kind of life do the spark plugs have? Is there a check list around somewhere I can take to the hood this weekend and just make sure everything checks out?

I'd try at least the basics like tune up, new fuel filter, tranny flush, full synthetic oil change etc...

You really need to know what the previous owner did. If not, then I would change oil, plugs, all other fluids, fuel filter, radiator flush, clean IAC.

Plugs are good from the factory to 100k, but they should be changed sooner.

you need to go through and make sure that all of your parts are correct. Like I mean make sure that the previous owner didnt put some crazy temp. thermostat in there its supposed to be 192degrees. Make sure they didnt put anything but stock motorcraft spark plugs in there. Make sure you have the GREEN coolant in there not the orange. Check for leaking. I mean air intake leaks or fluid leaks. Change the oil to motorcraft 5w-20 and motorcraft FL820S oil filter. Change the fuel filter to another motorcraft filter or WIX. Clean your MAF sensor and IAT sensor if you have one. Check the air filter. Run some Seafoam through the intake. ANd put some lucas fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. Then it should be running perfect.

Make sure your T-stat is between 180° and 192°. Anything more or les is not good and will screw w/ the computer. As for plugs, if they are Motorcraft/Autolites, make sure they are the full length ones. If not, replace them. Denso, NGK, and Champion are good replacements and they all have a full-thread design. As for coolant, are you sure it's green? My manual for my 03 calls for the orange stuff? If you need to refill though, the Prestone pre-mix is great since coolant doesn't matter. As far as oil, just get Mobil 1. No need to go to a dealer to get fluids. Also, Puralator, Mobil 1, and K&N are also good oil filters though the latter two are usually $12.
