Interior light question...
 

Ok, let me see if I can explain the problem that I'm having. To start out let me say that I have a 02 GT vert. I'm having problems with the interior lights that come on when you open/close the doors. The verts have the lights underneath the rearview mirror. When working properly when I enter my car and shut my doors the lights go off after about 30 secs...but lately they don't turn off at all. It's pissing me off because at night when I'm driving down the road they are on and the fawkers won't turn off..:mad:...Where should I look first to see If I can fix the problem. The stang has a factory clifford alarm which was installed when I first bought my car...don't know if that makes any difference...thanks for any help guys...

A temporary fix would be to remove the bulbs until you could figure out why its on. Does your alarm activate on OK by itself? I had an issue like this and it turned out to be the pinswitch. The door pinswitch is inserted a plastic grommet apparently that plastic broke so the pinswitch was not being pressed and light would be on all the time. I went to the junkyard and got one off another stang. I only took the plastic piece so they did not charge me anything for it. I would locate the pinswitch on your door and inspect it, press it with you finger and see if the driver or passenger is bad.

more than likely its is the pinswitch but not the one in the jamb. 1999 up Ford cars and trucks have had this problem for awhile.
the pinswitch on the door latches are pre-lubed from the factory wth a heavy grease and over time the grease gets hard and the pin in the switch won't retract, usally we see this happen in the spring and fall when there a big swing in outside air temps.

there is a revised part or you can try and spray some WD-40 into the latch to help un-stick the pin in the switch

Thanks randy...I sprayed some wd-40 on that sucker and now it's working great....:D

If you don't know how to fix it, try some duct tape or WD40. Usually one or both of those will do the trick. Cardinal rul of the DIYer.
