Car Security

Alright. I have my car parked underneath my house in Murray, and it doesn't have any plate on it pending it's registration in May, and I was wondering what I can do to keep people from messing with it or taking off with it. I removed the battery and stored it in the house, separately from the spare key. I usually hit Murray once every two weeks.. its about a two hour, 100 mile drive from Bowling Green.

The easy answer is a car-alarm system, but I just purchased the MAC exhaust and I'm coming up short on installation funds. Is there anything I can do to "secure" the car besides locking it and taking the battery out?

pull ecu fuse.

If it's stick, take the knob and stick off.

I would leave the battery in it....that is such a pain in the ass and then the ECU re-sets each time.

Just pull the fuel pump fuse. No crook will figure that out unless you tell someone what you did.

Someone can always get a battery if they see you taking it in the house.

Pull the stick-shift out is a good one too. Takes a bit of time to get it back in, but that would be a real show stopper.

Naturally, if they bring a tow truck, they can steal it no matter what.

Easiest thing to do is lay on the floor of the driver's side on your back by the pedals. Look up under the dash, you will see a wiring harness coming through the firewall (between the brake pedal lever and the dead pedal). You will see a little connector with a looped wire with a big blue sticker on it plugged into the only plug coming off that wiring harness right where you can easily reach it. Take that loop out and hide it somewhere and your car will not start.

Basically, take this:

and make it look like this:

And you'll be good to go.

Well, Matt, we actually have a whole bunch of mexicans living down the street.. so I guess they're naturally attracted to it.

Anyway-- I don't nessecarly live in a bad part of town, but I live in a "low-income" part of town, and I guess the people that lived here before were weird. Because they built this big ol garage seperate from the house where I can pull my Mustang into, but there are doors on only one end and they've been grounded so you can't open them.

Not that anyone would be stealing it, but, you know- better safe than sorry. I would take off my headlamps but the passenger side housing is ****ed up and it takes HOURS just to get the bulb in place.

Appreciate the help guys, thanks.
