HELP throttle problem/taurus
 

hey i drive my parents 00 taurus ses in the winter. for awhile its been misfiring pretty bad. we had that checked out and it was fixed for like a week. now its bad again. thats not the main problem though. now whenever i punch the gas the throttle sticks and rpms just fly up. and he gotta stand on hte brake to keep the car from taking off. i just got to work and it was doing it. i turned the car off. then turned it back on(it was in neutral)and hte rpms shot up to like 6k. so first of all responses asap would b greatly appreciated if you know what is wrong with it. also wtf should i do when i go to leave work. if i turn the car on and it shoots up in rpms i dont wanna throw it in drive cuz itll probably mess somethin up pretty bad. anyone got any ideas??????????

which engine does the taurus have? if its the 24valve dohc like i have in my sable. then check the IAC and the MAF. i had to clean both cause it was driven by my grandfather that doesnt know much about cars. now the rpms jump to 2000 on start up, it idles at 1500 but i can deal with it

wtf burn that thing it cannot be fixed

i feel like a p.o.s drivin it. misfires. brakes suck. rides like a go kart. ADVICE never buy any ford car unless a mustang, f-series trucks. i gotta put it in neutral, start it and immediatly throw it in drive so i dont throw it in drive at 6k+ rpms and **** it up. i pulled up to work at like 7 ppl were lookn at me tryin to figure out why i was revvn hte hell outta it. like i did it on purpose. my parents dont ground me. whenever i do somethin bad instead they just give me the keys to the taurus and say go drive around. because of that i act good haha

that sux. lol. i think you guys need to be in the same room to discuss this since you live at the same house.. lol

4 hours* and i can feel how shitty that car is from here

is it literly have the throttle stuck wide open? if so spray it with wd40 (outside of TB and inside).

If its just shooting up you could have a nasty gasket leak in the intake setup somewhere (air filter--->lower manifold could be leaking) But i dought that would cause a 6k rpm jump at all.

More then likly some sort of messed up TB problem such as the Throttle postion switch is bad and the car thinks its at more then idle pedal travel.

just some idea's off the top of my head.
