e brake problem HELP please!

My e brake seems to be stuck. I can hear the back brakes whistling a little but its not bad enough to make the car sluggish. When I try to engage the e brake a slower speeds (just to test it) it really doesn't grab like it should and just rolls to a stop. The brake light is not on or anything so I'm not sure what's going on with it.

2000 Gt 5 speed.

You might have drove on it far enough to either glaze the rotors or wear down the pads to nothing. Try spraying the area where the cable attaches to the caliper and readjust the cable.

I know on the newer (05+) models, there is a situation going on where the EBrake line has been freezing because water is getting into it.

Not sure if that applies to this at all, but just letting you know.

I checked the wear on the back pads and they are fine. I still have plenty to go before I need to change them. They just seem to be stuck about halfway between engaged and released. PITA.

caliper could be frozen. Check junkyards for another or call your dealers parts desk.

Heard of this problem a few times with these cars, take it to the dealership.

Im having the same problem, but its just my right rear brake that stays on. Not totally locking it but enough to make it smell. I put my e-brake on over the weekend becuase of all the ice and i didnt drive anywhere all weekend. Is it possible for just one brake on one tire to be semi-engaged when using the e-brake???
