Shifter

I currently have upr shifter with a pro 5.0 handle. I am looking to get something with a shorter throw than mine, cause 3rd gear sometimes is hard to find. Would switching to a Steeda Tri ax be an upgrade from what I have? Or would changing the shift handle help any? Thanks

PRO5.0 shifter

i have a steeda tri ax and it is borderline impossible to miss third. shifts are crisp and firm. its great when downshifting from 5th or upshifting from 2nd. i'd go withe the tri ax. you just push straight up as hard as you can and it goes in third every time.

i hear too many bad things about tri-ax

pro5.0 has been used on mustangs longer then anyother...

costs a bit more but well worth it

the only thing i've felt is a tri ax so i really have nothing to compare it to. but i have no complaints so far

I actually liked pro5.0 over the steeda triax.

My bro has a steeda tri ax in his car and I really like the feel of it. I think I can shift better in his car than my own.

look at hurst shifters...i have shifted a pro 5.0 and a B&M ripper...my hurst is the shortest throw...it is also a pain in the ass to shift if ur just driving...but when your on the track its real quick..ive had people ask me if it was auto cause they didnt think that a manual could shift that fast

the driver plays a big part in that...

I shift a pickup like an auto... thats a long x 2 throw shifter... lol

I have the Steeda Tri shifter. I bought Matt's. :) I have no complaints about it.

I HATE steeda and even I use a tri-ax. They're a good shifter and missing 3rd is impossible with them near as I can tell. I used to miss it all the time on fast shifts when it was stock.

other than that, pro5.0 and MGW are just as good. Some people like the MGW handle better but I'm happy with my super short pro5.0 handle on a tri-ax. I think you'll be happy.

Hurst X2. Especially since you have an '00, you can get the SST model which reduces the throw by 40% and you get the classic chrome stick and white ball (which since I have the TR3650, I had to buy seprately). Good looks, great feel, good stick positioning, and good price.
