Default Cherry bombs?

Love the logo. How do you guys think it would sound on my cobra? Talking about the old glass packs.

+1. Glass packs sound good on no car, be it classic or current. But if you want them, I say go for it, it is only money.

My cobra and the GT both are straight pipes. I bought them that way. Thinking I'll go flowmaster super 40's with a dump.

I'm replacing my flowtubes with 2.5" cherry bombs. They're not power losers if you size them correctly. BTW... most every straight through muffler design is a GLASS PACK. Fibreglass packed around a perforated tube=glass pack. Wether it's kevlar or fibreglass doesn't matter... same effect and same sound. The shape of the perforated tube helps to define the sound profile as do several other factors. Replacing my flowtubes with them will lower the overall tone and maybe add a little rumble that I lost with the X pipe.

And, yes... I'm old enough that I remember well when cherry bombs were all there was and we were glad to have them.

Think they would sound much different then my straight pipes do?

I know it. The sound will deepen considerably in the cherry's and then the tone will be changed in the borla mufflers. I'm hoping to cut the interior resonance a hair and make the sound generally deeper.

The X pipe gives it a nice rasp but takes away some of the deep throaty growl... the bombs should bring that back.

Your going to run the glass packs in front of your mufflers? I was thinking of just glass packs and keeping my tail pipes or flowmaster super 40's and a dump. I never have liked the looks of tail pipes and on my 96' I don't have these damn cutouts the newer ones have.

yep. I have borla ProXS mufflers w/ dumps and they resonate off the ground a bit due to that. I always thought visible tailpipes looked bad so I never wanted any. A quick trade to a v6 driver of rear bumper covers fixed the appearance so now it's all sound tuning. Flows with dumps resonate so much it makes my nuts actually hurt. Now the sound is a little too high pitch so I'm just going to lower it with a little bit more fibreglass. The pipes dump in front of the rear axle and car wash guys get confused as to where the tail pipes might actually be.... until they look under the car.

correct me if im wrong but arent the slp LMs/LMIIs basically cherry bombs. and if so why are some of you saying it will sound bad when you say the slps sound good on some others cars? im pretty sure you would get about the same tone.

I say get em!

the LM's are way bigger inside than cherry bombs. the lil' red glasspacks are very small inside so they have a lot of pop left in the sound. the LM series are huge inside comparitively speaking so they'll cool the gasses better and chill out the sound to rumble from pop a little better.
