my tranny sometimes does some weird stuff...like, when i shift, and let out the clutch it makes a clunk sound..

does anyone know, or have a link to some info about tranny failure..and what i can do to prevent it

It's probably the yoke on the trans moving too much on the splines.

change your tranny fluid and when you drain it filter the old stuff through a tshirt. Look for how much metal is in it. If it's big pieces that's bad. If it's mostly powder and there's not much then that's about normal. Also inspect the magnet in the drain plug for gobs of metal. A fair coating of oily powdered metal is normal.

My guess is it's normal clunk that I've seen on almost every car. I'm pretty certain it's in the rear end and not a big deal.
