good news
A couple days ago I posted saying my belts where squeaking. Well I got them checked and apparently my fan belt was no good, had them replaced and wow it made a complete turn around. It honestly feels like a new car. But the bad news was that clunking noise I hear they are pretty sure is coming from the tranny. They said its ok to drive and shouldn’t be a prob but it I no that noise cant be good. So my question is how much is the tranny swap including the install for the six speed. Also what other parts are needed besides the tranny to perform the swap and is there an after market one or just the one from the cobras. Pretty much a ball park figure would be great just to see what I’m really looking at.

clunking is sometimes perceived to be coming from the tranny when the source of the noise is rotted bushings in the RUCA's allowing the pinion angle to change drastically as power is applied. Check your bushings, then try opening the diff cover and inspecting inside there for obvious problems, then consider the tranny.
T56 costs 1800-2500, install supplies is about 400, installed is usually 2800-3K all in. |

Now the t56 what kind of power can that handle because the blower is coming along wit a lot of other mods so instead of buying a tanny twice just want to get the right on off the bat.

It'll take it, i know somone that has a 04 Cobra with 545HP to the wheels, and that's not including his 100 shot from his NX kit.
Now a Tremec 500 or 600 would be a nice option to and will handle the abuse. but are you going for the 6th gear thing? if so,make sure to get some 4.30 gears. |
Ok now im all sorts of confused. The cobra tranny I thought was a 6spd along with the t56. And the gears I was told when u have a sc which im getting u don’t want any higher then 3.73 gears for traction issues. But with the different tranny does that traction issue go away or what.

you can look for T56 with a 2.95 first gear and that'll stretch first back out to a usable level.

check out http://www.rsgear.com they have a new T-56 that can handle 1000HP and 12000TQ

Well i called that place about he 1000hp trannny and well shortly put its $7,000 not installed... just a lil out of my price range u can say lol..... im pretty sure im going with the tko 600 its a 5 spd and with a new stage 3 clutch and installed going to be $2975.... I can handle up to 600 tq and hp so that’s plenty for me for now and its brand new. It’s a five speed tho but he actually recommended it over the 6 so going with his advice. He said the gearing is almost the same between them both just a point 4 dif which he said isn’t noticeable all that much and the five is a lot easier install so was worth it a lot more in the long run.

damn that's alot of money. The TKO600 will be a sweet tranny also
