I have a 2000 Gt, auto. It has all the basic bolt ons, with a Venom nitrous system, I have also installed a edge racing convertor. It also has been dyno tuned. My questions are
1.How can you determine if the clutch is slipping in the convertor or something else in the tranny, and can slippage cause low dyno numbers. I was at 234HP and 264TQ n/a, but only got 304HP and 348TQ with the nitrous(100 shot)And the injectors have been upgraded to 30lb as well as a svt focus fuel pump. 2.When the car is first started and driven it runs strong, but if you put your foot into it, it pulls hard and then after that feels very sluggish and the a/f is very rich. And this cycles every 20 minutes or so, it will run strong and then feel sluggish. And gas can be smelled every once in a while. 3.If driven with the overdrive off at around 40-50mph if you tap the gas it jerks and makes a clunking noise, but with overdrive off it does not(I have 4:10 gears with 31 spline axles. |

1. you do not have a clutch in an auto...your converter may be bad..234/264 are about the average numbers from an auto. 304/348 sound about right for a 100 shot of nitrous...autos eat a lot of power thru the drivetrain
2. it sounds like you have an a/f ratio problem or a timing problem to make it feel sluggish 3. either the mechanic that installed your gear installed them wrong...or it just may be normal noise..cause sometimes my manual will make clunking noises...in gear or not in gear..id doesnt matter if you smell gas every now and then...its because ur car is dumping too much gas to be burnt and the cats cannot burn the exess gas off...unless you have a catless midpipe..then its not burning off the gases at all and that smell will always be there

The clunking noise is not coming from the rear end and it does not do it with the overdrive off, and auto's do have clutches just not a manual type.My concern is if my convertor is bad which is brand new or is my tranny got some problems. And the feeling sluggish comes and goes, not a constant problem.

Your numbers seem low even for an auto....Mines putting down more than 360whp on a 100 shot through a manual tranny. You might see 20hp less than me.
You dont have one of those sharp bends in your intake do you? Or are you on the stock intake? The bend will mess up your a/f ratio. I would definately take it back to your tuner though. Sounds like a bad tune....If all this is just happening while on the nitrous, then you might wanna look at that n20 system. For now cant you just upload the stock tune back on there? Or do you have a chip?

2. Sounds like you have a bad tune. You need to bring the car back in ASAP. 3. That is normal. Its the conver locking up/ unlocking. |

The nitrous is a dry kit, and the convertor was supposed to be built for nitrous use.And I have not even used the nitrous yet, except for when it was tuned.

A dry kit normally wont make as much as a wet kit, but I still think those #'s are low. Do you have a picture of your graph?

Had one, but unfortunalty misplaced it, i'm sure the tune is part of that problem, but I wouldn't trust the shop that did it to check the air in my tires. The transmission slippage is what is bothering me the most, is it the convertor or something in the tranny? also the shop did mention that the convertor was stalling all other the place and was never consistent, which makes absoultly no sense to me, isn't the convertor built for a set stall.I know that it will depend on the power band of you engine, but it shouldn't change all the time.

also, isn't the Venom system self tuning, so how much affect could a crappy tune have on it?
