Default 4.10=OK with stock rear??

I have 4.10's that are waiting to be installed.....I'm also running with Drag Radials....Do you think my rear will be ok?? Right now it still has the stock differential and axle and all....I dont plan on Beating up on it like crazy though....just a few passes down the strip. I do plan on beefing up the rear though over the winter once more $$$ is available....

Also...are 99-04 GT's axles and differentials 28 spline?

And im guessin.. no.. to this question..but would a 31 Spline Eaton Posi differential work with a 28 spline axle???? or do both need to be 31 spline???? .....

#1: 31 Spline diff needs 31 spline axles, 99-04 GT's are 28 spline.
#2: 4.10's are fine with the stock carrier (I have had mine for almost 2 years) BUT:
#3: Drag Radials may or may not snap an axle. You are taking a chance even if you only launch on them occasionally. It is a crap shoot.

All that was said above is correct. It really depends on how hard you hook on whether or not it'll snap an axle. I have many many passes on my 4.10s with drag radials, many of those were with 1.90-1.99 60 fts.

The general thinking on our rears is anything faster then 1.80 60' will break the stock axles. of course some go faster then that for awhile but general anyone who breaks axles go faster then 1.8's and some have snapped them going slower then that.

Me I spray out of the hole on drags and a 100% stock drivetrain and its fine. Its really the wheel hop that breaks axles. The tires grip then hop and makes them turn faster then hit the pavement and that sudden shock breaks them.

Not to hijack the thread but how much less of a chance do you have to break something with 3:73's opposed to 4:10s on drags?

I've done about 20 launches on my MT ET Street Radials with 4.10's, some being 5k with 1.70 60' times. I had the traction lok crap out on me, but it was going anyways. Upgrade just to be safe, I will as soon as the $$$ is available.

slightly less, it doesnt really matter even with stock gears and sticky tires if you get wheel hop its gonna snap.
