Where/How to tune

Although I am by no means a rookie wrench (got my 67 Coupe in March '93), I am new to this computer tuning stuff. I used a Superchips and for the $300 I paid, it has worked to my satisfaction, however, I believe there is more to be had. So, the question is, where do I start looking for someonewho can tune the computer without crashing it? I live outside of Reno, NV @ 4000' asl, I could use all the help I can get. Thanks.

You just need to find some local or non local mustang or performance shop and talk to them. The order tuned chips are good but nothing beats going to the shop and get an actual dyno/tune for your car with a chip. I have to drive 2 hours to Charlotte, NC in a month to finish up my dynotune for max HP and safety for the engine. Rob from prodyno came down from NC and installed a chip and programmed it in the carport for about an hour to get it as good as he can but he couldn't do it all without the dyno to help.

Yep, you're going to want to get rid of that Superchips programmer and buy either an SCT chip or SCT Xcal2. I recommend buying one of these through the place you're getting your tune from. Youll usually get a better deal that way.

:wallbash: THe question now is how to find a place in Reno, or somewhere nearby to tune/program my car. Hell, I'll go to Sacremento if someone knows who to talk to there.

:pepper: Thanks for the tips, I feel I am headed in the right direction now. That 5.4 Saleen is outstanding. No replacement for displacement!!

Call SCT up and find out where they have dyno shops at. There is a place in Sacramento because I just called them for a tune on my '03 (I'm in the east bay but am up in Reno and Sparks all the time at Hot August Nights with my '67, plus visiting family). Sorry, but the name of the shop escapes me right now. It was really expensive, something like $400+ an hour plus another $200 something for the tuner itself. Worked its way to $630 from my best recollection. Not sure if it was a good deal or not but I am currently waiting on my tune from MT and for $369 bucks , that seems like a sweet deal. APEX Motorsports in Santa Clara (which I personally know is super expensive, charges $200 for the first hour and $150 for each extra hour). It is about a 4 hour drive for you to come my way.

Also, APEX did not tell me what they were charging for the tuner itself. I have a feeling it is marked up significantly. They wanted over a grand to do my 4.10 gears with just the install. Forget that!
