Default 306?!?!?!?!?!

i'm taking the 4 cyl out of my 86 mustang and want to put a 306 in it i understand how to build the car to make it handle the power and get me down the road and track but i was wandering what the best application i can use in the 306 to make about 400 horses i would rather not use nitrous and i want to keep the stock bottom end for a time to see how much torture i can put to it( HAHAHAHA i know i'm horrible) but i was wandering if i could get help in what kind of heads cam intake and carb would be the best combo to make 400 fun loving ponies if ya'll cold help me with this it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your post. The "How To" section is for answers not questions as in "this is how you do something". So, I am gonna move your thread to a spot that will get it better coverage....General Tech. Though it may end up in 5.0 Tech.

Well, with the 302 based engines, the biggest hold up or bottleneck seems to be the heads, so Id say go with some afr 165s or even 185s if you are brave. Also, get rid of the stock intake and cam. This prolly wont get you to the 400 mark, but I have no experience other than what I have read about. If you really want 400 hp, you really should look into some nitrous. Its not that bad of a thing, and its not cheating. The people that say its cheating are the ones who spent 5 grand for a s/c and are pissed cause the guy with the bottle just beat them for 4 times less. LOL, anyway, back off my soapbox...Id say heads, cam, intake, and maybe a 50 shot and youll be there. Oh and your torque is going to be KILLER if you do this. thanks man i'll give it a whirl i was actually gonna get a set of afr's or possibly gt-40 all depends on what comes my way first. the intake and cam are gonna be changed definitely and i'm gonna have my crank machined .10 under got some pretty beefy bearings for it the nitrous yeh i'd like to use it but i had a bad expereience well good really in a 900 hp fox that "accidentily" jumped to 1100 hp so yeh it was fun lol but thanks for your imput and if you have anymore suggestions please let me know oh and also who makes a good hift kit for a c-4 or c-6 thanks alot guys
