A friend of mine has a 97 vette with intake and exhaust and he pretty much thinks it'll kill anything. I know it'd beat my car in its current form, but once I get my LT's in, and get better gears, what else would it take for my car to be able to match or beat his car? not including any power adders

 

Don't the 97's push 350 hp? Its gonna take some doin. Cams and heads will get you closer but I dunno, it'll eat your lunch for you on top end.

 

My buddy has a vette with cams, headers, midpipe, catback, intake, and some other stuff and he runs 12.7 on 20x10 in the rear, so youll have to kick it up a notch if you want to compete with a vette. They are super light with big power.

 

so all i really hear about is what cars can beat a mustang. What could i feel confident about beating with the mods that i have? Dont mean to get off topic about the vet, but im just curious.

 

i beat one like 2 weeks ago he had from what i cna tell only a catback. they arent that fast if its the regualr modle not the z06.

 

Vette's are damn quick, especially up top! I would just say with Longtubes and gears you might be able to hang with him from stop light to stop light, but running at high speeds he should walk you pretty easy. In my experience a lot of vette drivers don't "really" know how to drive the car the way it can be driven.....so go for it, you might suprise yourself!

 

Lt's, gears and sticky tires are a good start. From a stop you could beat them pretty easy, but top end you will need a power adder.

 

I'm talkin no power adder, i.e. no nitrous.

 

To beat a vette you need the same or more power per pound and better traction. The vette smashes us with aerodynamics so you'll also need a bonus 50-75hp just to be competitive.

It's that easy. Physics decides who wins if both drivers are about equal in skill.

I've destroyed a C5 in a highway pull

 

My friend's C5 Vette beat my other friend's 04 Cobra both 6 speed with intake/catback/short throw shifter..and it just eats the cobra..every1 including myself all think it's a factory freak since he ran a 12.6 in the 1/4 with street tires, and thoughs couple of mods.

 

the C5 is just a glorified LS1. is it an auto or a manual? A buddy of mine with a LS1 TA raced our friend in a C5 and the TA beat him lol. I think if you could pull 2 cars on a camaro you'd be ok

 

There is a small fact about c5's of which 60% of their owners don't know about. Some c5's came with 2.73 gears.....yep, you've read it right, 2.73's or something like that. No wonder they are slouches, a simple gear change will fix that problem though...

:censored: Send tha vette my way!!!!!!! My 03 cobra conv has over 600 h.p. at the rear. I am untouchable. There hasnt been a car yet that can touch me even with heavy 20" chrome foose wheels. Alot also is on how you handle your car, some people just cant drive. I f you want a list of mods that really work for the money email me You'll have your vette killer, Fords rule!!!!!

 

All you do is talk about your cobra with 20 inch rims and h&r springs. if you really have 600hp, im sure you could come up with other than bragging about your 20s and h&r springs in every topic. pics? mods? engine shot with your name on a peice of paper?

a 600hp 03 cobra is a not unusual thing anymore. 20" wheels will slow you down a little. Not much but a little. besides... 600hp comes at 6500 rpm so it's not a real streetable or deliverable 600hp. when you put that down at 4800 rpm, then that's badazz.

Saying you're untouchable... that's just silly and reeks of excessive bragadocio. Being proud is cool... being arrogant (and I know firsthand) makes people not like you very much. Tone it down a hair and people will simply admire your ride instead of ripping on you.

 

You can't just come on a site like this and say you have a 600hp cobra and not post a pic. BTW: I have a 601 hp cobra (The Frito II) but I don't like to show it off. I keep it in a 10,000 square foot shop next to my yacht located at my summer home. (Sorry,....no pics!)

There's no way that someone with a 600hp cobra who is obviously as proud of it as you are doesn't have tons of pictures of it and dyno vids or dyno sheets or ANYTHING related to the car...strange how that is.
