final #s are 415rwhp/432rwtq

Pretty significant gain, eh? I'm thinking my auto had more than the supposed 20% drivetrain loss. It was pretty much done anyways. Tq converter was fried.

i hear gears can have something to do with it, and 3.55 vs 4.10s are a bit of a diffrence

yeh... thats a gear thing...

I've seen the converter has alot to do with HP on the dyno. A TA came in and didnt put out the power he hoped, then changed hios torque converter and gained 20+ hp. Theres always gonna be a bit more HP loss on the Auto vs. a manual.

PureStang 05-21-2006 08:26 PM

4.10 gears should only loose between 5-10 hp....a very insignifigant number...

dannyb785 05-21-2006 08:28 PM

does it FEEL faster?

whitethunder46 05-21-2006 08:58 PM

Ok, gears will take some power, and maybe 5-10 HP in the engine. I saw NO MORE than 5RWHP. I'm gonna dyno mine before and after my gear install to see if there's a difference.

Tourque convertor can add up to 40-50RWHP (PI Staillion convertor), on our applications 20RWHP is a good number.

GREG@SN95 05-22-2006 03:32 AM

yeh well... gears take power.... but in the head they make ya quicker... make it feel alot more torque...

Teal_Beast 05-22-2006 05:23 AM

yea i wasnt saying that gears are bad or anything, im just saying it could account for a few hp there.

02LaserRedGT 05-22-2006 07:41 AM

About 5-7hp came from the gears. Even without that, the hp gains are still quite large, greater than 5% increase.

However, my auto trans & tq convertor was busted so there's a possibility it wasn't putting down the power it should.

Blue02GT 05-22-2006 08:45 PM

A read somewhere recently that the actual drive train loss on a manual was about 12%. The supposed loss on an auto is 18-20%. Gears do cost a small loss (5-10). Torque convertors show no gain on the dyno but do make a significant difference at the track.

As tempting as it is, I have yet to floor it. When I hit the 45,500 miles (trans and clutch beak in period/about 200 more to go), then it's on! :punk:
