Default What to do at the track Newbs here

Ok so it’s your first time at the track or maybe just want to see if you’re doing this right here are a few things to help you out with your fun at the track.

So it’s your turn to pull up, you move forward and there is the waterbox what do you do? Here are some things you should know.

1.Do not go threw the water unless you are running skinnys or have no way around it, this just drags water up and will hurt your launch and other cars after you.

So just back up into the water box once you have gone around it.

2. You only need to wet Slicks or Drag radials as street tires do not need water to heat them up.

3.For slicks a good rule of thumb is once you see smoke count to ten and that’s a pretty good amount of time to heat them up. For drag radials the same thing applies only some Dr's need more heat some need less you can experiment to find what works best for you.

4.For street tires do not smoke your tires its a waste of time and money. Only spin them to clean the rocks etc.. of the tread then you are good to go.

Now for the burnout don’t worry if you feel dumb for not knowing how some people don’t here is how to do a burnout in any car or truck.

Manuals
1.turn off traction control if you have it.
2.put in first gear
3.rev the motor to 4,000rpms (manual only)
4.Dump the clutch and move foot to brake and adjust brake and throttle pressure till the motor doesn’t bog and you don’t move forward.
5.enjoy the smoke

Autos
1, Turn off traction control
2.put in first gear
3.press brake pedal
4.press gas down
5.adjust brake and gas till motor is not bogging and spinning the tires but the car is not moving forward either.
6.Enjoy

Thats about it after the burnout just let of the gas and roll forward don’t be a hero and do a big burnout past the Tree its not gonna help and we will make fun of you.

Then stage and get ready to run.

so yeah how does the Burn out exactly work in my 4 wheel disc brake V6? Lol, let alone getting both wheels spinning isn't guna happen. I can peel out but when I hit the break all wheels slow down. and i don't think the Emergency break is powerful enough to stop the car...

i would but its kinda of hard to do that becuase every car is different and is going to need different rpms to launch etc.. i just wanted to help out and give a few pointers.

And for your v6 like all of us we all have 4 wheel disk brakes, like i said you have to adjust the brake and thorttle to get the car to sit still and smoke them, and since you dont have a posi thats why you do one wheel wonders.

And the E-brake is only for the back wheels, so that doesnt help much

With an automatic you will be faster not stalling the converter, just floor it on the last amber and let it flash on it's own.

For the auto instructions. Might want to add on there to turn your overdrive off. It frees the computer and tranny of making sure that gear is still there. Thus easing the pain on your tranny.

You can come to the track with me and dustin we'll show you what to do. I'll be going sometime next month I hope. It's always good to run a stock car once before you mod that way in the future you'll know what progress your making. Orlando Speedworld sucks sometimes but once in awhile they prep the track just right.

depends on the track, sometimes at spinworld they are strict and other times they could care less. Most of the time at speedworld you wont have a problem with running mid-high 13's without a helmet, its when you start running low 13's and into the 12s they start to get strict. Orlando speedworld is an NHRA member track, it is in the rules for NHRA street legal drags that drivers running under 13.99 are required to wear a helmet. As well as a blowdown tube if the nitrous bottle is inside the drivers compartment, and a blowoff cap required on all bottles.'

dustin you should post the burnouts and bull**** video as an instruction on how to do a proper burnout.

All good advice, but I didn't see a few things:
1. First and FOREMOST, do not double bulb your opponent, you look like a dork!! Light the first bulb, then wait til your opponent lights their top bulb, then and ONLY then stage.
2. If your track is up to date and uses LED bulbs for the three yellows, don't wait for the third light, the LEDs illuminate faster and about half way through the second bulb should give a descent r/t.
2a. Unless you are bracket racing, or grudge racing, r/t is just a number
3. Don't wind your clutch to tight, it makes for cool smoke shows, but bad launches. I launch between 1500 and 2000 with minimal wheel spin.
4. Don't be afraid to manually shift an auto trans, some autos short shift killing your run.
And finally, if you roll through the water, you are not going to throw enough water around to be of any consequence when you run. If that were the case, my 10" Hoosiers would be hosing down the wheel tubs of my 67 after I roll through the water. BTW banging gears in a burnout (heal/toe method) keeps the engine speed down and the tire speed up.

Dragging water is a problem. If you have ever been to Orlando Speed World you would see that after a few cars roll threw it it drags teh water farther and farther up. IF you have skinneys by all means go threw the water, if you dont dont go threw it.
