New track time

Getting closer to 11's. I ran a 12.1 at 115 today. I ran on the 17" 315/35 Nitto DRs again. Tires stuck 1.7 60fts and I had them aired down to 15 psi.

Last month I hit a 12.3 at 113...this time around I removed front sway bar, dogbone, quad shocks, metal plate under steering wheel, spare tire, jack, tire iron. I also had 20 less hp and 30 lb less torque.

am I the only one that races here and posts on a regular basis?

I think alot of tracks are still closed. Lol.

shit, I totally forgot its January and half the country is covered in snow.

Phoenix has awesome weather right now. I think the temps started at mid 50's and topped out somewhere in the 70's today.

I'm sure if I corrected my times to sea level I would of been in the 11's.

Bullitt5339 01-17-2010 06:02 AM

There is still racing going on here, weather dependant.

I ran right before XMas, I'm kind of gearing up to do a little autocross this year, so I've been working the suspension away from drag racing lately.

Times are in my sig, but that's a 100% stock engine, the valve covers have never been off of it. Stock intake, just took the filter off and the passenger's headlight out. Megabites and BFG Drag Radials, 1.79 60ft time, and -1240ft DA. I love November/December drag racing. If you can hook, you'll run faster than you ever can during the summer.

stanger00 01-17-2010 11:44 AM

haha negative DA...it was warm here so our DA was probably in the 2300-2500 range. I'll run the calculator later.

Taking turns is a lot more fun but I'm content with straight line fun.

spike_africa 01-17-2010 06:55 PM

No racing for me, I am still working out this vibration issue I have.

Those times are pretty badass. Whats the record for a stock motor 2v with a vortec isn't it something crazy like a 11.20 or something nuts.

WNRacing 01-17-2010 07:06 PM

I can't wait to get back to racing, but have a few new things coming for this year so I'll probably be a little delayed. Hopefully by April/May we'll be back on the track.

Nice times man!

Thanks!

Stock long block who knows.

I will make it to the 11's soon. Next track competition for the 11.5X class is March 6th. I have time to get things worked out. I may add some long tubes in Feburary. I still need to make a rear seat delete and remove the rear mach 460 speaker/amp rack.

By march I could have about 20 more hp and car will be down about 50-60 more pounds in weight.

02trgt 01-18-2010 12:00 AM

wicked times. i cant wait to get out this year. wat is ur combo?

stanger00 03-06-2010 11:33 PM

Hit the track again tonight

Best pass was a 12.09 at 114.74 60ft 1.70. I used my M/T Drag Radials at 25 psi. They were 275/50/15 on a 15X8 weld pro star. Car hooked good but the car didnt shift into 2nd gear on time. The car bounced the limiter a couple times, robbed from another 11 sec pass. My last 2 passes I forgot to put the car in drive and launched in 2nd instead. The last pass I blew the tires on launch but managed a 12.30 at 113.

Since I'm racing off of a pro tree I need to get myself a trans brake. I still need to remove the rear seat and rear speaker deck.

new parts list manual valve body with transbrake and bassani mid lengths

25 psi???? Thats quite a bit for those drag radials still. I'd lower them down to about 18 and see what happens. Should cut your 60 even better.. and what rpm are you launching at? If you want that 11 second pass... it's probably best to be stalling at about 1300 and flashing the converter...

stanger00 03-07-2010 09:14 AM

I need more track time with these tires to work them out. The track was too busy last night.

I was brake stalling the car around 2500 and it was holding the launches. I dropped the tires to 20 and I launched it a little harder around 2800 rpms and I spun pretty bad, 2.0 60ft.

stanger00 03-13-2010 04:48 PM

going to speedworld again. I removed the rear seat, mach 460 speaker box with amps and passenger seat.

Maybe I will see some 11's!

stanger00 03-13-2010 11:57 PM

Finally,

I ran 3 11 sec passes tonight. I flashed the converter each time and it held but my 60's were in the 1.7's.

60ft . . 1/4 . . miles per hour
1.72 . . 11.91 . . 116.55
1.73 . . 11.95 . . 115.56
1.76 . . 11.93 . . 115.83

What rpm were you flashing it? And what was the psi in the tires?

Idk ..something just seems.. off still to me.. maybe I'm missing something but I still think you should be seeing 11.60's 11.70s ...

Regardless, good job at hitting the 11s.

stanger00 03-14-2010 03:12 AM

I think the problem is all in the transmission. The shifts need to be commanded a little earlier and shift pressure needs to come up as well. The 1-2 shift lags big time...my rpms sit at 6500 for about 1 sec and then shifts and spins the tires. Thats eating a lot of ET right there. The transbrake will fix my 60fts.

I have a 3600 stall converter. I had the tires aired down to 15psi. I waited for the last yellow light and mashed the pedal to floor and held on. Sometimes it hit the limiter, but for 3 times it didnt.

Yea..I had a 2800 stall, but I was on nitrous, so I was flashing the converter somewhere around 1800 or so.. right off the launch just to get that instant shot of nitrous.

The auto transmission of always going to have somesort of lag, I'm almost positive.

But I'm surpised it's still spinning the ET Streets... I mean I imagine you're getting enough heat in them ( don't need a huge burnout or anything.. ) but.. thats just really strange..I mean I've spun them off the light..but nothing like that..

stanger00 03-14-2010 05:46 AM

This is my sea level corrected time. The DA was 2400 feet above sea level.

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
11.782 @ 117.262 MPH

Flashing the converter is using its max stall speed without brake stalling. What you described is using your left foot to hold the brake while you hold the rpms at 1800. Thats brake stalling. I can get my car to hold a brake stall at 2800 but I spin too much off the line. I'm using Mickey Thompson Street Radials. I'm done with having to deal with a tune to fix the transmission shifting. I dont like sitting at a tuners shop for hours on end to have no real fix to my issue. I will just have to deal with having to shift gears myself in a auto car.

Yea I always shifted myself. I'd brake stall at 1800..I never actually tried to see how high I could get it.. but flashing the converter for me was to get that high jump in rpms quickly and not break traction.... I don't really have a much better way to explain it.

stanger00 03-14-2010 01:26 PM

My car is to inconsistent if I shift the gears myself. I leave it in Drive and let the computer do the work. Never had an issue with the M.P.H tune besides the converter locking up too late in 3rd gear. I was going to try the 91 octane M.P.H tune but I couldnt get to my MAF x-tender to turn it back down. Some reason my LMAF pegs over here and I actually have to use it, gay.

stanger00 05-17-2010 02:08 PM

Never got my tune worked out and I went to the track last wednesday night. I ran a best of 12.1 at 115 with my 17" 555r's. Still had some lag between 1-2 and 2-3.

Today, I went to the dyno shop and dude fixed my shifting problems. Now, my car shifts real firm at 5800-5900 if the tires dont break loose on the street. I actually almost lost control of my car when it hit 2nd gear, I wasnt expecting it to shift that hard and fast. I like it. Too bad I packed up my 15" wheels and tires for my move to Cali in a couple weeks. I'm going to test this new shifting on wednesday on the 17" Nitto's.

If I still had a paycheck coming in I would of just thrown in a manual valvebody instead having to dick around with the computer to shift the car for me.

Dude, hell yeah!

I just got new 315 Nittos so more track time for me to come!

hell yeah bro let it rip...been waiting to see what your car looks like and how your nitrous power will do at the 1/4 mile.

This is a great tire for street and occasional track use but it is a drag radial not a slick. DR's dont like to be shocked, you have to ease into them and then let loose.

WNRacing 05-17-2010 03:58 PM

VERY Nice man! I can't wait to get into the 12's... Nitrous kit is coming together for me, finally snagged a window switch, just got a couple little things to go now!

I gotta set the bar! haha. You guys are about to catch up. Steeda97 went 12.5's with just a 100 shot and his car was stuck in the mid 13's N/A...not too many regulars here who routinely post that run 11's. One member does but I forget his name. I know his car is pretty quick and has it dialed in with low 11's.

Trust me I know this is my 5th set of Nitto drags on the car. I have gone a best of high 12.4x's on the 125shot with 275 drags and a weak 1.89 60'. If I can even match that with this hotter weather and different tires the first time out I would be happy.

SnTBakosFinest 05-18-2010 04:30 PM

The MT drag radials I ran didn't mind the shock too much...little bit of spinning but they'd hook pretty quickly. Just dropped them down to 15psi, little heat, and then off I went..
