anyone go against an rx-8 at the track or another legal scenario?
 

Just wondering how the 99-04 4.6/5MT would match up with an rx-8 at the track or from a roll or any scenario really. Long story short, just need a first-hand experience.

So your buddy has a RX-8 and you want to street race him, but don't want everyone to lecture you about street racing so your saying your doing it at the track? lol.

You should win a drag race pretty easily. I raced one not long ago and it was basicly no contest. Autocross: you will lose. I've seen a '07 Shelby GT out PAX a RX-8 but the Shelby driver is at national level. Road course: you will probably lose, depends on the drivers.

neighbor down the street from me has an 05-06 (iirc) RX-8 and weve punched off from a roll as we were both driving home a few times. 20mph roll on, i usually pull 2-3 cars on him. hed prolly eat me alive from a dead stop but im not gonna tell him that.

but yeah, road race his car is lighter, better balanced and i believe 6 spd trans. not such a torque monger, so he doesnt have to be quite as cautious as we do in the turns. pretty sure hed pwn in that scenario.
