Default Whats my problem?

Ok so I'm a little confused

My best run (which sucked) was a 2.20 60 foot and 14.066 in the 1/4 mile at 98.60 mph

Now here is why I am confused. A few months ago when I ran the car launching at 2.2k it spun a little, hooked up and I was on my way. Perfect and resulted with a 2.22 60 foot and 13.95.

This time, 2.2k BOG.. badly.... ok so 2.5k BOG badly again!!.... so 3 thousand RPM I STILL BOG!! So finally last past of the night, 3700, slip the clutch and got that nice spin a little and hook up and got a 2.20 60 foot and ran the 14.066

Why is it, I had to launch at almost 4k to achieve the same results I got with launching it at 2.2k rpm last track visit?

In a word, weather. If you ran a few months ago you most likely ran in much better air. The DA will have a profound effect on your cars performance. That's why you should always correct your times. Also if you don't stage the same on each run, your times will vary too.

So how did my car spin incredibly bad above 2.2k that time, but I had to launch it at 3700 before it bogged the 2nd time.. but yet I didnt see any type of gain?

As I stated weather plays a big role in your times. If you ran in the early spring with lower temps and humidity you were running at a lower DA (density altitude). When my car was running consistant 13.7's I would often run the next week and suddenly be running 13.9's to 14.2's. I had made no changes to the car but was slower. When I got home I'd look up the weather data and correct my times. Sure enough they match my previous corrected times.
If you can give me the track you ran at, the date and time I'll correct your time and tell you what you would have run at sea level (which is what you correct to). At your speed you can also gain or loose several tenths just by staging deeper or more shallow. If you take both factors into account you may well have run faster than last time out but just don't have the time slips to prove it. As to your bogging at higher rpm's this time out, that goes hand in hand with hotter more humid air, you are not making as much power. My car always runs slower 60' times in bad weather. I will hook up perfect and only get a 1.90 later in the evening when the temp is dropping and the DA is better I'll get 1.75's - 1.85's.

Dont worry about it. I do know I re set the battery and it seems like the car picks up a lot better instead of hesitating before hitting the higher RPMs.

I will be heading back July 1st with the JLT on... hopefully I can expect some better times.

Thanks for the help.

Here are two runs made two weeks apart. Very similar 60'. One was at 92 degrees the other at 62 degrees.

Wow.

So, I'm curious now. How do you find your corrected ET and trap speed? Is there a converter somewhere?

I ran at Ozark Drag strip (www.ozarkdragstrip.com)

Around 11 pm yesterday 6/17

See what I mean? You could have very well run faster but got screwed by the weather. Also the two runs were actually one week apart last summer.

I do mine at Modulardepot.com
There is a "my e.t.'s" button near the top. You enter all your timeslip data and the weather data and it corrects your times for you. There is a link for weather info there too, but it only gives you the past 24 hours. Go to wunderground.com and they have a huge weather data base.

most people dont realize how much weather and track conditions play in your ET and consistancy. the more you race your car the more you will realize this, and the more youll know how to adjust your car and your driving for the conditions. also, jlt cold air intake isnt gonna drop your et too much

yes weather, hell down here in Florida in the month of July its so hot they only have test and tune on Wednesdays. But test and tune night is better than the races anyways, you get to see all sortsa crap run out there.

The most amazing thing I seen so far is a stock mustang taking a Viper in the 1/8, guess not enough runway for the Viper to get going yet.
