Default Best Drag Racing Tip/Advice....

Since there are some pretty good drivers in this forum I was wondering if everyone could share a good tip or some advice that you've recieved that helped you drop some time from your e.t. You can help newbs, like myself, run a .10 or so faster. Also, share the best mod that you done that really helped get your times to where you wanted them. If you do state the obvious like a supercharger or nitrous atleast give us a NA vs. non-NA time. Thanks guys and ladies.

if using "street" type treaded tires, DO NOT drive thru the water, drive around the water and back into the burn-out area.

If it's your first time on slicks the car will walk around on ya a little bit. Enough to scare the crap out of ya. I was not told this until after the run THEN they decide to tell me this. Best advice,,,suck it up and leave your foot planted on the floor. Haaa.

Best advice I can give ya,,,,practice, practice and more pratice.

Do not get any water on street tires a regular small like 5sec burnout to clean off the rocks etc.. is all that is needed. Other then that we have a sticky at the top of this section on first timers to drag racing and has alot of good tips.

My best mod for the money was my drag radials dropped me 4tenths with just that. And i was only using nitto drags which arent the stickest there better sticking tires out there.

I find that small burnouts don't work for most. Burnout until you see smoke. And make sure you are in the right grove of the race track. Get someone who know the track to line you up.

shed as much weight as possible, got my 00 gt down to 3000 even w/o me in the car. that is also still with stock suspension, and heavy leather butt holders. also moved the battery to the trunk (picked up a tenth doing that alone). rear seat is gone, pulled the carpet and scraped all the sound junk out (now that was a lot of fun), bumpers are gone. been a best so far of 8.38 in the eighth with weight gone, x-pipe, and a 4.10 gear.

The track I go to waters the whole track width and it forces you to drive through it. It makes me really mad. There is room enough to get one side of the car out of the water but they sweep the debris there and so that sucks just as bad.

One bit of advice is to leave right after the third amber lights up (if your using that type of tree). That should get you a pretty good reaction time. If you leave when you see green your already too late.
