What is power-shifting and how do I do it? And I take it an aftermarket shifter is a good idea. Any suggestions? Thank you.

its when you do not lift off the gas depal when you shift a manual car. you dont need an aftermarket shifter to power shift. i used mine for 15k miles of powershifting.

I would also recomend have a good clutch in the car also. You have to be very quick and pray not to miss a gear.
Try it on the highway with a 3-4 or a 4-5 shift to get the hang of it. It can pick you up a .01 or maybe .02. |

This si something that takes practise! Or, you will dick uo your motor/trany.
When I first started to learn how to power shift, I did a hybrid of granny and power shifting. Basically, I would mash the gas to the floor, then let up on the gas about 50% of the way while shifting as fast as possible. All I do is tap on the clutch. It's hard to explain. Best thing is to have someone give you a lesson who can sit next to you.

Also i have a stock tranny 30k miles just now. and i powershift mine most likly everyother time i drive it. its fine Of course i have not missed a shift ina long time and have gotten to be damn good at it. So i might be the exception. and you can drop up (even mm&ff did this) a half sec off a ar with the correct powershifting and getting it not ot spin as bad. my car dropped 2 and 1/2 tenths at the 1/4 with nothing more than power shifting. when all i had was intake and off-road h-pipe i could not get into the 13's i was stuck at 14.0xx then with powershifting it got a few 13.89 its worth it if you can do it right. Just go get some practice done.
