00 v6 auto vs 98 3000GT base auto

One of my friends just bought a 98 3000GT base model, in automatic transmission and wants to race me..

From teh interwebz.....this is what I gather:

Engine: 3L 6cyl 12V SOHC
HP (wheels):161 @ 5500rpm
LB/FT: 185 @ 4000rpm
Curb weight: 3,131 lbs
Front wheel drive

It has about 90,000 miles on it, bone stock.

And then my car which is just a 00 3.8L V6 auto with an aftermarket CAI, and has about 48,500 miles on it.

So....what are my chances? I do know that if it was anything but the base model i'd definately lose, and maybe even if his was manual he may win, but since it's base, has less torque and FWD, do I have a decent chance?

There is an AWD version, but the base is just FWD.

yeah im familiar with the VR4s. I just always thought it was either RWD or AWD...never knew it was FVCK wheel drive. hmm...civics like Stang00's are FVCK wheel drive....poor guy.

also the 99 vr4 the last yr of them is the sickest car u cant find one anywhere its so rare

Just to inform you a 3000gt is not a 12valve and nore does the N/A verion only have 161hp! They are a 200hp car, I've seen several bone stock range from 230-265hp...stock! Also they weight 3800lbs, so good luck and not to be a dick but you will lose.

As for the VR4..they are not faster than a 03-04 cobra...280hp. The JDM model called the Mitsu GTO will beat a cobra but not the vr4's here in the states.

You're thinking of the SL, that's not the base model

There's Base, SL, and VR-4

hey bro the 99 3kgt has 390 hp it theres one that is by me its black so sick looking thing is crazy and yes it will beat stock cobras the thing is nuts

Is the 3000gt thats near you Right hand drive? If so then i'de believe it does have 390hp due to being a Japan model GTO which are nasty but theres only a few that have been imported to the states. If it's a regular VR4 then it's not stock at all. We recently did some work to a '97 VR4: Turbo's, front-mount/hard piping, BOV, SAFC II, Boost controller, Exhaust and on 15psi it was making 384AWHP. Therefore the one near you if it's not RHD than it's highly modified!

are you talking about the one my friend has? It's left hand drive, like any other car in America...and it's FWD, with less than 170 hp

It's the base model, not a VR4..

oh ok you are correct them yeah it is right hand drive new it had 390 though hehehehehe
