Finally ran my car...in hell!!

I went to the Street Legal Drag Races yesterday and I thought that it was going to be awesome. Until we all sat in the tech inspection line for over two hours. Then once we were all through, we were in group 5. We parked and waited for our call. while waiting the tempeture began to rise...to over 105 DEGREES!!! It was so f'ing hot yesterday that I almost went home!! Everyone out there was running like crap. Well the best I managed to get came on my third run. :beerchug:

R/T ... .413
60' ... 2.256
330 ... 6.196
1/8 ... 9.347
MPH ... 78.72
1000 ... 12.024
1/4 ... 14.321
MPH ... 98.55

Not really what i was expecting but everyone told me that I was running slow because of the heat. I felt better after I sat down and watched the rest of the mustangs run anywhere from 14.6 to 15.3. Even mach 1's were running worse than me, I watched 3 machs run over a 14.6!! HEAT SUCKS!!! :devil2:

Two out of my four races were against a 2006 6.0 GTO, I beat him on our first run:
Me-->14.462 @ 98.00 MPH
GTO->14.531 @ 100.21 MPH

Overall the heat sucked, I saw two people pass out from a heat stroke, but in the end...I beat a GTO, 5.0 Mustang and an RSX Type-S!! So I can't wait till it cools down and I can go again!!

White04GT 07-16-2006 10:09 AM

Mad props on beating the RSX Type-S!:shifty:

MattJ 07-16-2006 10:14 AM

rsx type s is an easy kill. numbers arent that great but hey its 105 degrees. i was gonna goto the track today but its the same temp.
lol

FullThrottleStang 07-16-2006 10:20 AM

yeah the RSX actually called me out so I was like sure if you really want to. He didn't do to bad though. He ran a 15.977 @ 90.88!! :surrender I didn't really care who I ran, I just wanted to see what my car could do, before I do my major mods.

White04GT 07-16-2006 10:20 AM

The RSX-S are so slowwwwwwwwww.. I am an auto and killed 1 I swear I must of put a bus length on it.

FullThrottleStang 07-16-2006 10:21 AM

Yeah, I am an auto too!!

White04GT 07-16-2006 10:26 AM

What mods you have done to your car?

FullThrottleStang 07-16-2006 10:47 AM

I have BBK 75mm TB/Plenum, K&N FIPK, and Full MAC exhaust!! The next races are in September, so hopefully it will be cooler and I will have my gears, torque converter, draglites w/MT's and SCT tune by then!! Low 13's here I come!!

MattJ 07-16-2006 10:54 AM

Youll be walkin home if you dont have upgrades axles with those draglites and MT slicks.
lol

FullThrottleStang 07-16-2006 11:19 AM

What kind of upgrades do I need to do? Do I need to upgrade to a 31 spline, or is there something else I can do?

FullThrottleStang 07-16-2006 11:29 AM

I just used that Modular Depot track calculator!! I put in all the weather and track info and it said my corrected times should be:
13.45 @ 104.32 MPH!!!

ChrisGT 07-16-2006 11:29 AM

You need a 31 spline carrier and axles. Otherwise they'll snap with those tires and you'll be calling AAA.

White04GT 07-16-2006 11:36 AM

Might as well get Heads and Cams..and just get some Nitto D/R's

shad0ws 07-16-2006 11:44 AM

Don't do anything else to your car until you upgrade that rear-end. Just go ahead and get it over with because you thank yourself when you see a nearly stock GT have to be towed home because he launced to hard with his gear and drag radials. I've seen almost completely stock GT's with just Nitto's snap axles at the track and it's just a shame. I know it's hard to justify saving up for but it will be well worth it. Get yourself either a Auburn Pro 31 Spline Differential or an Easton Posi along with some quality 31 spline axles. Everything shouldn't run you no more than $800 including install.

That's all the mods? You ran well then. I ran a few GTOs with just my SLP performance pac and got left. 400hp vs 300ish..Now, I would have no trouble, not that I condone street racing...cause I don't. It's the devil.

spike_africa 07-16-2006 08:29 PM

Its an auto guys, he doesnt need a built rear end yet. They dont shock the drivetrain like a manual car does.

WhitePony 07-19-2006 08:03 PM

I recommend the transgo shift kit...i have a 97 auto with just k&N dropin with air silencer removed and custom 40 series catback running on bfgoodrich kdws 275's on 17's and the shift kit. I was shocked when i cooked a 4 door g35 considering i only have like 225 hp or something hahah trust me the shift kit makes a big diff.

spike_africa 07-19-2006 08:59 PM

they are gardcore any transgo on mustang sites i dont knwo why ever 4r70w i ever had had a transgo in it too. MY f150 left 2 feet of rbber going into third on the bottle it was awsome.

I talked with a tech at Ford when I did my 4.10's and he told me the rearend was good to 400HP with a automatic. I did install a rearend girdle though.

spike_africa 07-22-2006 11:07 AM

400rwhp doenst matter its just the fact that it doesnt shock the drivetrain like a manual does. Only time i would upgrade axles on a an auto would be when i broke them. Other wise its a waste of time and money.
